Ensuring that high school students get theeducation they need is challenging. Someeducators are recognizing that regular classesat school may not be enough to prepare students for careers and for life. Because of this, they recommend that all high school students be required to spend a specific number of hours learning useful skills outside school. Others think that this requirement isnot appropriate for all students. Which view do you agree with? Why?

Consider Bill Gates. The reason why he became a pioneer in the computer era is that, as a high school student, he gained early exposure to computer programming through an extracurricular club. This unique opportunity, sponsored by his parents, laid the foundation for his future success as a tech innovator. Likewise, the reason why tennis star Qinwen Zheng achieved a top global ranking is that she discovered her passion and honed her athletic prowess through her school’s tennis team. This experience provided the foundation she needed to excel on the world stage.
In conclusion, since schools cannot address all of a student’s developmental needs, participating in extracurricular activities is essential for acquiring practical skills that prepare them for future success.
