Tsinghua University’s iconic campus is once again buzzing with excitement and anticipation as it warmly welcomes the 2024 cohort of graduate students. On August 22, the campus opened its gates to students arriving from all across the world. These new members of the Tsinghua community, filled with ambition and dreams, are ready to carry forward the legacy of the university.
From the moment they stepped off the train, the new students were greeted with enthusiastic volunteers holding up signs that read, "Welcome to Tsinghua University!" The fatigue of travel was quickly dispelled by the warmth and meticulous care offered by the university’s welcome teams. This year, Tsinghua set up several guide stations at key locations including Beijing Railway Station, Beijing South, West, and Chaoyang Stations, as well as at the university gates. Additional guide points were strategically placed near the graduate student dormitories, ensuring that newcomers received timely assistance with directions, luggage handling, and inquiries, making the registration process smooth and efficient.
At the centralized welcome point located in front of the Student Service Center (Building C), a wide array of thoughtful services and activities awaited the new students. From sports game zones and customized welcome drinks to a wishing wall and creative photo spots, every detail was designed to help the students feel at home and ease their transition into campus life.
One of the most notable additions to the event was a humanoid robot developed by Professor Zhao Mingguo’s research team from the Department of Automation. This intelligent “volunteer” greeted the students with handshakes and waves, adding a futuristic touch to the traditional welcome.
A poetry wall invited students to share their aspirations, while a curated welcome package, featuring a digital “100 Must-Do Things at Tsinghua” guide, connected them with the university's traditions as they embark on their new journey.
As the new students settle in, Tsinghua University ensures that from the very first day, they feel the warmth, tradition, and community spirit that defines life at Tsinghua.
