A Chinese man recently shared a comical experience of a blind date gone awry that not only ended with him cutting ties with his potential match but also deleting three people from his social circle. The anecdote, originally posted on social media, sparked laughter and widespread discussion among netizens.
According to the man’s post, a casual acquaintance introduced him to a 34-year-old woman, whom he referred to as a “fairy lady.” After exchanging pleasantries on WeChat for two days, they decided to meet in person. He chose a Japanese restaurant for their date. However, things took an unexpected turn when the woman asked if she could bring along her “brother.”
The man, puzzled, responded, “Isn’t your brother in France?” The woman clarified that the “brother” was someone she had met online. Feeling the situation was unusual, the man replied sarcastically, “Then why don’t you and your brother go together?” This remark upset the woman, who accused him of being passive-aggressive. The man, unwilling to continue, decided to delete her from his contacts.
The next day, the matchmaker reached out, asking what had happened. Just as the man was about to explain, the matchmaker interrupted, saying, “Why don’t you apologize and make it up to her? She’s really upset.” Irritated by the suggestion, the man decided to cut ties with the matchmaker as well.
On the third day, a mutual friend of the matchmaker and the man also inquired about the situation. By this point, the man was fed up and deleted this friend as well. Reflecting on the ordeal, he humorously concluded, “Look at that - a single fairy lady helped me clean up my friend circle.”
