可以画廊欣然宣布张珂个展将于10月18日在可以画廊北京空间开幕,这是张珂继“谎言是一种无法被抚平的褶皱”后在可以画廊的第二次个人展览。本次展览以“过多的期盼”为主题,呈现了艺术家近两年以来的十多件作品,展览将持续展至11月17日。

We are pleased to announce the opening of Zhang Ke's solo exhibition at KeYi Gallery Beijing on October 18th, which is Zhang Ke's second solo exhibition at KeYiGallery after “A Lie is a Crease that Cannot be Smoothed”. With the theme of “Excessive Expectation”, this exhibition presents more than ten pieces of the artist's work from the past two years, and will be on view until November 17th.

期盼的是对意义的渴求,即一个准确的答案,对未来有一个圆满的塑造,但事实往往事与愿违,矛盾的存在和认识的颠覆通常使原有的期盼变得多余。

张珂所呈现的这系列作品,源于对某个具体情景遗留的感受引发的联想,将原本承载过多内容的表达删减,摒弃了上下文的叙事结构,只留感受。时间使感受褪色变得模糊,接受和联想使感受有新的发现——这个过程往往是随机的、自由的、毫无目的。艺术家并不试图在每件作品中清晰地解释自己的感受,也不添加更多符合“逻辑”的必备条件,她不再审视而是接受,最后这种情感的投射和对自我的注视赋予到物品和具体情境之中,组成画面。

作品里出现的由于不断折叠形成难以抚平褶皱的白色纸张和布料,反复折叠塑造形状表达意愿,交错的褶皱是其功能性的遗迹。通过这一意象的反复出现,张珂试图表达意义过剩所产生的模糊,以及对于事实精准探求的期盼所带来的破碎。

What is hoped for is the thirst for "meaning", that is, an accurate answer and a perfect shaping of the future. However, reality often goes against wishes, and the existence of contradictions and the subversion of understanding often make the original "expectation" redundant.

The series of works presented by Zhang Ke originates from the association triggered by the lingering feelings of a specific situation, cutting down the expression that originally carried too much content, abandoning the narrative structure of context, and only leaving the feelings. Time fades and blurs feelings, while acceptance and association lead to new discoveries - a process that is often random, free, and purposeless. Artists do not attempt to clearly explain their feelings in each work, nor do they add more necessary conditions that conform to "logic". They no longer examine but accept, and in the end, this emotional projection and self gaze are given to objects and specific contexts, forming a picture.

The white paper and fabric that appear in the work, which are difficult to smooth out due to continuous folding, are repeatedly folded to shape and express intentions. The interlocking folds are the functional relics of the work. Through the repeated appearance of this image, Zhang Ke attempts to express the ambiguity caused by the excess of meaning and the fragmentation brought about by the expectation of precise exploration of facts.

张珂,1996 年出生于安徽淮北,2018 年学士毕业于广州美术学院,2021 年硕士毕业于英国皇家艺术学院,现工作生活于上海。张珂的作品以温馨和谐的表面与不安的内里的反差为基本来表达对于“稳定”和“常识”的怀疑,诸如幻觉与现实、生物和静物的糅合与对立。她将传统物象拆解、重构、并置,利用传统视觉元素本身所持有的原始性质营造错觉,创造出隐喻性的荒诞空间。她的作品曾被 X 美术馆,Longlati Foundation 等机构收藏。

Zhang Ke, born in Huaibei, Anhui in 1996, graduatedfrom Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts in 2018 with a bachelor's degree, and from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in 2021 with a master's degree. Now she lives and works in Shanghai. Zhang Ke's works explore the miracle of personal perspective. She analogizes artistic creation to alchemy, extracts concepts from elements and reorganizes them, uses the original nature of elements to create illusion, and creates a series of paintings with absurd atmosphere. Her works have been collected by X museum, Longlati Foundation and other institutions.
