Laughter flies over autumn fields,Little hands work with joyous zeal.
Peanuts and sweet potatoes hide in soil,Harvest joy at National Day's toil.
The land is the cradle of life, nurturing countless mysteries. Those seeds gently wrapped in soil have quietly grown into plump fruits after spring blossoms and autumn harvests. But how can we obtain these delicious treasures hidden underground?
American writer Richard Louv once pointed out, "In nature, children discover their own strength." Nature not only cultivates children's environmental awareness and ecological literacy but also stimulates their curiosity and desire to explore the natural world. In this vast classroom of nature, children can learn about the world through firsthand experience, developing their observation, thinking, and practical skills. This immersive learning method makes abstract knowledge tangible and lays a solid foundation for children's all-round development.
The earth in golden September has laid out a canvas of harvest, waiting for little farmers to explore and discover. In this season of harvest, children from YKI are about to embark on a wonderful journey - the "I am a Little Farmer" field trip. In this learning experience that transcends textbooks, a dialogue between hearts and the earth, children learn harvesting techniques and experience the hardships and joys of labor.
When little hands touch the warmth of the soil, when sweat moistens tender cheeks, when they pick the fruits they have diligently cultivated, children will deeply feel the value of labor and the gifts of nature.
Swiss educator Pestalozzi said, "The art of education lies in awakening people's thirst for knowledge." The morning sunlight gently falls on the excited faces of the children. Amidst cheerful laughter, the "little farmers" set off on their field trip to the Future Home Agricultural Industrial Park.
Over seventy-five years of springs and autumns, New China has progressed from standing up, to becoming prosperous, to growing strong. It's been a journey of determined advancement, blooming with achievements along the way. The children visited the Party Building Exhibition, where they learned about the history of agricultural development since the founding of New China and recognized the importance of crops in daily life.
In the early days of the nation's founding, the country faced severe food shortages. Many people couldn't eat their fill. It was scientists like Grandpa Yuan and millions of hardworking farmers who, through scientific farming and advances in agricultural technology, continuously increased our grain production. The children listened intently, full of curiosity and admiration for the country's development. Their eyes sparkled with understanding and gratitude, seeming to grasp the profound meaning of "cherishing food."
In the outdoor natural classroom, the children are about to uncover the mystery of peanut growth. Under the teacher's guidance, the little ones speculate on how peanuts grow. Some cuties think peanuts grow on trees like apples, while others insist they should grow on the ground. The teacher takes out a complete peanut plant to demonstrate this unique growth process to the children.
The growth of peanuts is so magical: flowers bloom on the ground first, and after they wither, the flower stalks gradually bend and burrow into the soil, where the fruits grow quietly underground. The children listen, fascinated, their eyes sparkling with curiosity.
After the theoretical learning, the exciting practical session begins. The children put on small gloves, take small shovels, and run excitedly towards the peanut field. They imitate the agronomist, their small hands clumsy but full of strength as they grab the peanut plants and pull upwards.
"Wow! I pulled it out!" Amidst the rising exclamations, the children proudly show off their harvest, their faces beaming with pure joy. After pulling out the peanuts, they pick them off the plants and put them into small bags. Although this process is time-consuming, the children never tire of it, cheering with delight every time they pick a peanut, with joyful laughter echoing across the field.
The afternoon sun gently bathes the fields as the children arrive at the lush sweet potato patch. Unlike harvesting peanuts, sweet potatoes are harvested by digging, giving the children a whole new experience. The air is filled with the fragrance of soil, and the children excitedly rub their hands, eager to start this "treasure hunt" game.
The teacher patiently demonstrates the technique of digging sweet potatoes. First, loosen the soil gently with a hoe, then explore the soil with both hands, as if playing hide-and-seek with the earth. The children watch with wide eyes, carefully learning each movement. Soon, red sweet potatoes are being "invited" out of the soil one by one.
The children scatter excitedly with their small hoes, like a group of busy ants. Some swing their hoes, clumsily but earnestly loosening the soil; others kneel on the ground, their small hands searching in the soil, afraid to miss any "treasure." Their cheeks are flushed with excitement and exertion, fine beads of sweat on their foreheads, but they are oblivious to it all.
As the digging progresses, the children's harvest grows. Cries of delight ring out across the field: "Look! This sweet potato looks like a little pig!" "Wow, mine looks like a rocket!" They cradle the oddly shaped sweet potatoes in their hands, treasuring them as if they were the world's most precious jewels.
Some children dig up particularly large sweet potatoes, dancing with joy; others find sweet potatoes shaped like small animals and excitedly show them to their friends. Some children, though their sweet potatoes are not large, cherish them all the more because they are the fruits of their own labor. In the sunshine, the children's smiling faces are even rosier than the sweet potatoes, radiating pure happiness.
This sweet potato field has not only yielded plump fruits but also sown the joy of labor and reverence for nature. The children's laughter echoes across the fields, composing a moving harvest song with the autumn breeze.
As the field trip comes to an end, the children reluctantly bid farewell to the farm, clutching small bags full of peanuts and sweet potatoes. On the return bus, they excitedly share their experiences. The little farmers have now felt the hard work of "facing the yellow earth with their backs to the sky." For the first time, they touched the fuzz of peanut leaves, felt the freshness of the soil, stroked sweet potato vines, and experienced the joy of harvest. This experience has given the children a better understanding of the farming profession, taught them to cherish food, love nature, and value the fruits of labor.
