The Japanese invaders brutally killed approximately 300,000 Chinese civilians and unarmed soldiers in over six weeks, marking one of the most barbaric and tragic episodes of World War II.默哀结束后，16名礼兵向公祭台敬献花圈，来自南京市的87名青少年代表宣读《和平宣言》，6名社会各界代表撞响了“和平大钟”。伴随着钟声，3000羽和平鸽展翅高飞，一方面寄托了对死难者的无限哀思，同时也表达了我们和对和平的不懈追求。87 young people read aloud a declaration of peace, and 6 citizen representatives struck the Bell of Peace.
