Ventricular Fibrillation and Sudden Cardiac Death

The electrical stimuli are generated in the SA node, the natural pacemaker of the heart. The SA node determines how often the heart beats per minute.

At rest, a healthy heart beats about 60 to 80 times per minute.
安静时，健康的心脏跳动约 60~80 次/分钟。
During ventricular fibrillation, the heart rate rises to more than 240 beats per minute. It is caused by electric pulses being transmitted in an uncontrolled manner. Regulated conduction of electrical stimuli no longer takes place.
室颤期间，心率加快到 240 次/分钟以上。它是由不受控制传输的电脉冲引起的，电刺激传导将不再受管控。
This causes the heart rate to increase so much that the heart muscle fibrillates that is quivers instead of contracting properly. Blood is no longer pumped through the body. The circulation of blood essential for the supply of life-giving oxygen comes to a standstill.
这会导致心率加快，引起心肌纤维颤动，而不是正常收缩。血液不再泵入身体。供氧所必需的血液循环停止。
If ventricular fibrillation is not halted quickly, the brain will suffer oxygen-deprivation, leading to sudden cardiac death within a matter of minutes.
如果心室颤动不能快速停止，大脑就会缺氧，在数分钟内导致心脏猝死。
