“Dunhuang: Realm of a Thousand Colors,” an XR (extended reality) panoramic fantasy location-based entertainment (LBE) experience exhibition, has made its global debut at Shenzhen Art Museum (new venue) in Longhua District.

Visitors only need to wear a VR device to admire the exquisite murals of the Mogao Grottoes, a UNESCO World Heritage site in Northwest China, and learn about stories that have been passed down for a thousand years.
The constantly changing scenes include vast heights, cliffs and precipices, as well as mysterious underground palaces and forests.
Some visitors commented that the exhibition not only popularizes mural art and offers a game-like fantasy adventure, but also allows participants to glimpse the desert scenery of a thousand years ago and experience the bustling prosperity of the Silk Road, which is truly awe-inspiring. The exhibition might also inspired some visitors to visit Dunhuang in person in the future.
The exhibition also applies XR technology to give new life to the arts.
According to the event organizers, centered around exploring the development of Dunhuang culture, the exhibition uses a 720-degree fully immersive visual experience with ultra-high clarity to bring viewers up close to the internal structure and murals of the Dunhuang Grottoes, as well as the Buddha statues.
It took over 700 days to create the exhibition, which has brought more than 14 Dunhuang scenes back to life, including the Mingsha Mountain and the Crescent Lake.
