Today marks one week until the 2024 presidential election, and with just days until America makes its big decision, both candidates are crisscrossing the country, focusing on the crucial swing states.
If a person or thing criss-crosses an area, they travel from one side to the other and back again many times, following different routes. If a number of things criss-cross an area, they cross it, and cross over each other.
Crossroad 🛣️:n.
Crosswalk 🚶:n.
Traverse:
Elizabeth Bisland left New York heading the opposite way, traversing the United States first before heading across the Pacific.
Shuttle back and forth:
I spent the whole morning shuttling back and forth across the harbor.
The race is neck and neck.
The latest CNN poll found the candidates deadlocked among likely voters nationwide.
我们还可以用“in a dead heat”:
The two candidates are in a dead heat in the polls.
释义:指两方势均力敌或互相抵触,导致无法前进或做出决策的局面(a complete failure to reach agreement or settle an argument )。
Candidates are deadlocked:
Despite months of discussion the negotiations remained deadlocked.
