Chinese actor Wang Xing (also known as Xing Xing) has been rescued after being abducted and taken to Myanmar. He is now safely in Bangkok, with authorities successfully dismantling the criminal organization responsible for his kidnapping. The suspected mastermind behind the plot, identified as a Guangdong native with the aliases "Golden Tiger" and "Mr. Yu," was arrested in connection with the case.
The criminal group is linked to "Apollo Glory," a major labor agency in the region, which has significant influence and connections. Wang Xing was reportedly deceived into traveling to the company, where he was kidnapped by an employee named Jin Can. The two had multiple phone conversations during the kidnapping process. Jin Can has also been apprehended by authorities.
Investigations have revealed that the company is involved in various illegal activities across China. These revelations are expected to aid authorities in cracking down on similar criminal networks. The case has raised concerns about the extent of illegal operations in the region and how they impact vulnerable individuals.
In a heartwarming update on January 8, Wang Xing’s girlfriend, who goes by @InsomniacDad on social media, shared a photo of the two holding hands, confirming their reunion. She expressed her relief over Wang Xing’s safe return after a harrowing ordeal.
Following the rescue, rumors circulated that a 2 million RMB ransom had been paid to the Myanmar-based criminal group in exchange for Wang Xing’s release. However, a volunteer who had previously assisted families in rescuing victims from Myanmar’s fraudulent companies dismissed the claims. According to the volunteer, Wang Xing was held at a small-scale scam operation in Myanmar, and the company released him due to mounting public pressure, without any ransom being paid. The 2 million RMB ransom was a fabricated story.
When asked for confirmation, Wang Xing’s girlfriend also denied knowledge of any ransom payment, adding that she plans to raise awareness about rescue efforts to help others in similar situations.
Additionally, the volunteer revealed that some former professionals from China's entertainment industry had been involved in providing fraudsters with access to actors’ information, further complicating the issue.
