Malaysian police are actively searching for four suspects involved in the abduction and robbery of two Chinese tourists in Pekan Gohtong Jaya near Pahang state’s Genting Highlands. The incident took place on Monday evening, leaving both victims with minor injuries.
Bentong police superintendent Zaiham Mohd Kahar reported that the victims, a 26-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman, were approached by four unidentified men while walking in Pekan Gohtong Jaya around 6:30 pm. The suspects forced the tourists into a BMW vehicle, leading to a violent struggle.
During the altercation, the female victim managed to escape from the car, but the male victim was taken away. He was later abandoned by the roadside after the suspects robbed him of cash and transferred additional funds to their account.
The incident was reported to the Genting Highlands police station by a concerned citizen at approximately 7:40 pm. Both victims received treatment at a nearby hospital for their injuries.
Superintendent Zaiham stated that investigations are underway, and the case is being handled under Sections 365 and 394 of the Penal Code, which cover abduction and voluntarily causing hurt during robbery.
