Invitation for attending the “2024 Finding Outstanding Chinese Educators in the New Era Campaign-the Finale: Philosophical Discourse” from November 10th to 11th
In 2021, Professor Youmin Xi from Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University launched the “Finding Outstanding Chinese Educators in the New Era Campaign”. Centered around the proposition of “How to Cultivate People with Happier Lives and Successful Careers in the New Era of Digitization and Intelligence through Education”, the campaign invites educators from higher education, basic education, and new vocational education to engage in discussions. It aims to promote exploration and reform in Chinese education, discover, cultivate, and enhance outstanding educational leadership, and drive societal understanding of education in the new era. Over three years, the campaign has invited 17 educators to share their insights and engage in discourse, attracting nearly 31 million online and offline views and discussions focused on education’s original aspirations and growth essence.
From November 10th to 11th, 2024, the five candidates, along with industry experts, will join Professor Youmin Xi, Executive President of Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, and online and offline audiences to delve into key topics such as “Global Vision and Patriotism”, “Digital Literacy and Learning Behavior”, and “Knowledge Acquisition and Attainment Cultivation”. In this ideological exchange, education experts will not only analyze the current state and challenges in the field of education but also jointly envision the future direction and path of education. All participants will witness the announcement of the “2024 Finding Outstanding Chinese Educators in the New Era”.

The first quarterly meeting of NPEC (New Professional Education Cooperation) for the2024-2025 fiscal year was successfully held
On October14,2024, the first quarterly meeting of NPEC (New Professional Education Cooperation) for the 2024-2025 fiscal year was successfully held in Taicang! Nearly 50 member organizations of NPEC participated through a diverse range of online and offline methods to discuss the development direction and strategies of NPEC in the context of the new era. This meeting laid the foundation for further expanding NPEC's influence and building an innovative ecosystem for new professional education.

Crafting Dreams with Excellence, Innovating the Future: Initiating a New Era of Direct Interaction between Industry and Education
‘Education Meets Industry’ is centered on in-depth exploration and practical exchange in the integration of industry and education, successfully establishing a dialogue platform for collaboration among the government, universities, and enterprises. During the segment, guests shared case studies of industry-university cooperation, discussing innovative development concepts, talent cultivation paths, and methods from both the enterprise and university perspectives. After the sharing session, attendees engaged in enthusiastic discussions and in-depth exchanges on areas of interest for supply-demand matching, further promoting the precise alignment and effective utilization of resources in industry-education integration.

Where Worlds meets, Humor Beyond Borders——International Café III Successfully Closed at X-Bar
On October 9th, the vibrant South Campus of XJTLU buzzed with laughter and insight during the third episode of the “International Café,” an event in the Global Citizenship Education (GCED) series, organized by Learning Institute for Future Excellence (LIFE). With “Humor” as its theme, this gathering illuminated the campus vibe, inviting professional stand-up comedians to weave cross-cultural narratives through humor. Their performances, brimming with light-hearted exchanges, celebrated the glamour of cultural diversity while emphasizing respect, sense of boundaries, and inclusiveness. Experts from LIFE enriched the event further with roundtable discussions and keynote speeches, spotlighting humor’s unique role in fostering mutual understanding and connecting different cultures. Students were also engaged in humor challenges and shared delightful cross-cultural stories. More than a mere exchange, this event stood as a testimonyto the power of humor in uniting diverse communities, showcasing the students’ wisdom, understanding, and respect.

PhD round table: Sharing on PhD application and experience in AoFE
On October 16th, to help students interested in the academic pathway better plan their Master's studies in Year 1 and prepare for their PhD applications in Year 2, the Department of Educational Studies invited two PhD students from the Academy of Future Education to participate in this forum and share their advice and experiences regarding PhD applications and Master's life. Suping Liu provided detailed insights into the many important elements of PhD applications, Chenye Zhang shared her personal journey in applying for a PhD. This event was highly beneficial for our graduate students pursuing their PhD.
School visit by AoFE students to OCAS
On October 9th, students from the Future Education College of Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University visited the OCAS for an inspiring campus tour. This visit not only enhanced the students' understanding of the education industry but also provided them with valuable resources and inspiration for their future career development. It is believed that through such practical experiences, the students will be better prepared for their future careers.
Academy of Future Education and Suzhou Industrial Park Foreign Language School Collaborate to Establish an Educational Internship Base
On October 17th, to further deepen inter-school collaboration, optimize educational resources, enhance teacher professional development, strengthen practical teaching abilities, and achieve the training goals for educational professionals, the Suzhou Industrial Park Foreign Language School and Academy of Future Education held a ceremony to unveil their educational internship base. The establishment of this internship base opens up new avenues for improving the employability of the academy's students.
School visit by AoFE students to Suzhou Tourism and Finance Institute
On October 23rd, students from AoFE visited the Suzhou Tourism and Finance Institutefor a meaningful tour. During this visit, the students engaged in in-depth discussions with the school's faculty and gained insights into the latest developments in tourism and finance programs, as well as practical experiences in vocational education. This visit broadened their perspectives and enhanced their understanding of the relevant industries, laying a solid foundation for their future career development. The event not only promoted inter-school collaboration but also provided valuable learning opportunities for the students.
JUNGE BANNER EDUCATION AND SPORTS BUREAU ON THE PRE-SCHOOL THIRD MUTUAL AID COOPERATION TEACHING AND RESEARCH STUDIO MEMBERS TO SUZHOUSTUDY TRAINING
The Academy of Furtue Education, XJTLU and the Educational Research Center of Junge Banner have successfully completed a total of 10 training sessions in their collaborative project since 2021. This completed training program has combined theory and practice, incorporate diverse formats including lectures, site visits, and workshops, with a focus on enhancing the abilities of preschool teachers from Junge banner, Inner Mongolia, in areas such as observing and assessing children’s play, implementing social education, and designing scientific emergent curriculum. Through this collaboration, the aim is to further promote higher-quality educational services for the kindergartens and children in Junge banner, supporting their holistic growth.

EDU collaboration on Curriculum Design projects for Generative AI in Thailand
From October 7-11, educational developers Olivia Yiqun Sun and Charlie Reis were invited to Thammasat Secondary School in Thailand for a week-long educational project. Working with 12 teachers, they explored the integration of generative AI into the existing curriculum, developing a new course for 11th and 12th grade students. The results of this project were significant and included course learning outcomes, learning outcome assessments, a syllabus, and an action plan to support staff in teaching the course, which will be officially launched next year. A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed by both parties, paving the way for future collaborative efforts. Future support programs and practice-based research are also in the pipeline, working to bring new impetus to educational innovation.
Charlie Reis from EDU Delivers Lecture at United International College of Zhuhai: Classical Chinese Philosophy and Contemporary Education
On October 29th, Charlie Reis, Educational Developer from EDU, was invited to give a lecture at United International College in Zhuhai, Guangdong, China on Chinese Philosophy and Contemporary Approaches to Learning and Teaching. The lecture was a great success and led to future plans for collaboration on China’s intangible intellectual and cultural heritage in contemporary learning and teaching in higher education.
The Programme of Higher Educational Practitioners’ Teaching Ability Enhancement for Shandong Province was Successfully Held.
Shandong Department of Education organized 54 frontline teachers to participate in the teaching ability enhancement programme at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University from November 13th to 19th, 2024. The programme aimed to enhance the teaching ability of higher educational practitioners in the new era and promote the sustainable development of higher education! The programme include teaching guidance & consultation, teaching research and modern educational technology, which can assist participating teachers strengthen educational research and practice, condense teaching style, and gradually form a personalized teaching program.

The Association of Interdisciplinary Social Innovation Course Online Workshop series continue to be in progress.
The Course Workshop, focusing on a specific course for case study, aims to facilitate in-depth discussions of curriculum implementation challenges and aid main lecturers in refining their courses. it aims to inspire other participating teachers to contemplate the common challenges they may encounter in practice. The inaugural online workshop of 2024 featured Ms. Liu Mingli from Jinzhong College of Information as the keynote speaker, with “All Things Are Numbers: Exploring the Truth and Beauty of Mathematics” serving as the case study. Participants deeply discussed the importance of general education courses and their practical integration, reaching a consensus that such general education courses should encourage students to apply their academic knowledge in solving real-world problems, fostering problem-identification and problem-solving skills. Future workshops are scheduled for November; stay tuned for more updates.
Creating future education community
The Teaching Innovation Seminar and the Massive Selection of the10th XJTLU National University Teaching Innovation Award (TIA) were successfully held!
On September28 and October13,2024, the Massive Selection for the XJTLU TIA took place at Northwest Minzu University in Lanzhou and Huanggang Normal University in Huanggang, respectively. Nearly350 educators from all over the country gathered to discuss the theme of "Student-Centered Learning: Co-Creating the Future of Education," focusing on teaching innovations and sharing cutting-edge educational ideas through in-depth discussions.

Student-Empowering Futures: 2024 XJTLU Research-led Learning Symposium will be held on November 23rd
To actively advocate and encourage XJTLU students to explore and develop the path and skills of research-led learning, Learning Institute for Future Excellence (LIFE) will hold the 2024 XJTLU RLL Symposium on November 23rd, and sincerely invite undergraduate and graduate students from across the university to attend at Taicang Campus. Since 2017, the Symposium has been successfully held six times, showcasing the outstanding achievements of XJTLU students on the path of research-led learning. Notably, this year, the Symposium will focus on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with some entertaining elements added. By integrating SDG goals, the Symposium aims to not only enhance students' research capabilities but also demonstrate the commitment of XJTLU students to sustainable development and global progress.
