An off-duty police officer was attacked in Tsim Sha Tsui early this morning. Two clips circulating online show a 35-year-old Pakistani man wielding a knife, repeatedly stabbing a local man dressed in black on Nathan Road. The victim suffered significant injuries, leading to a bloody scene as bystanders attempted to intervene.
The injured individual, identified as an off-duty officer from the Police Tactical Unit (PTU), had been walking towards Mong Kok after having dinner in Tsim Sha Tsui. He was reportedly assaulted at the intersection of Nathan Road and Nanking Street, where a male suspect snatched his wallet. Despite the officer identifying himself as a police officer while pursuing the assailant,
the suspect discarded the wallet and attacked him with a knife.
Bystanders witnessed the struggle, with one person urging the attacker to stop, to which the assailant coldly acknowledged, “I know.” The struggle continued, with the victim attempting to restrain the attacker. After the assailant broke free, he fled the scene.
Following the attack, the officer was left bleeding on the ground, where he called for assistance. Emergency services arrived, and he was transported to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, where he is reported to be in stable condition, despite suffering multiple stab wounds.
Police have since apprehended the suspect, who remains in custody as investigations continue.
