According to China Youth Daily, some netizens recently shared on social media that the online registration system for the 2025 national postgraduate entrance examination in Fushun, Liaoning, explicitly prohibits using photos taken at the HIMO photo studio as official ID photos. In response, HIMO’s official account clarified that students should ensure they use the original, unedited version of the photo when registering or submitting documents.

The restriction primarily aims to prevent excessive beautification. As facial recognition technology is employed at exam venues, a significant discrepancy between the ID photo and the admission photo could result in verification failure.
