Grade 9

Grade 12

Offer!
"Life's buttons must be correctly fastened right from the start", and from junior high, students and parents often face their first "major choice" in life. How to choose an educational path, how to select courses for higher education, and how to get into a dream university are topics of utmost concern for senior students and their parents. The myriad study abroad countries and destinations, and the varying application requirements for different majors, often leave students and parents feeling overwhelmed.
At AISL Harrow Nanning, the university counselor teachers act as guides for students on their journey to dream universities, helping them to understand themselves better and aiding them in achieving their dreams.

Life Planner
"University counseling is actually a long-term planning and guiding process," says Sabrina Hou, the university counselor at Harrow Nanning. "Our school's university guidance actually starts from Grade 9." We provide a long-term and comprehensive admission plan for our students, accompanying them from Grade 9 all the way through to high school graduation and university. The admission guidance teachers are their partners and "life planners" throughout this journey.
Timeline
Grade 9
Interest Exploration Phase. Students are encouraged to try various activities to discover their future professional and academic interests, undertaking related career exploration in their courses and extracurricular activities.
Grade 10

Grade 12
Submitting Applications. Grade 12 students make their final preparations for submitting applications, take international standardized tests, and await university admission results.
02
The Strongest Support
At Harrow Nanning, university guidance is "student-centred", which is a stark contrast to the conveyor-belt style of study abroad planning. Each student has their own personality and strengths and is the "master" of their own admission planning journey. This is the ultimate goal of Harrow Nanning's university counseling.
"Our focus in university counseling is on students' academic interests and strengths; we encourage students to plan independently and cultivate their autonomy," says Sabrina. Cultivating students' independence is a key aspect of the guidance process." We don't force students to choose universities or majors, nor do we write their application documents for them. Instead, we accompany students in their exploration and discussion, helping them understand that their future is in their own hands," Sabrina explains.
03
Close to students
With diverse interests, talents, family backgrounds, and life plans, Harrow Nanning students are vibrant, unique, and distinctive. University Guidance teachers are likely among the most knowledgeable about students in the school. From the moment students enter the university planning phase, teachers create individual profiles for each student, recording every conversation and planning process, providing personalized guidance.
The school's university guidance comes in various forms. Workshops and lectures help "enlighten" students and parents. Beyond these, a team comprising head of upper school, bilingual class teachers, subject teachers, and the university counselor offers strategic advice at each stage of the planning process. Students and parents can turn to them for support with subject selection and further education queries.
"University counseling is forward-looking, focused on the future." One-on-one interviews are the main way for university counselor to understand students and parents. Through these discussions, the university guidance team gains a clearer understanding of students' current psychological state and future plans. They can more acutely capture their changes and make plans that best match their individual needs, guiding them to break down goals into actionable steps. At Harrow Nanning, 1-on-1 interviews can be initiated by either party." When I feel it's necessary to talk to a student, I'll arrange an interview. Of course, students and parents can also actively seek me out to discuss their concerns. So far, nearly all students in Grades 9 to 10 have had interviews with me," says Ms. Sabrina Hou. "My original goal was to get into a top 100 university worldwide, but after talking with university counselor, she helped clarify my strengths, and now I feel I can aim for even better universities," shares a Grade 10 student, grateful for the guidance on their journey to achieving their dreams.

Achieving your dream
with abundant
educational resources
AISL Harrow Schools are renowned for academic excellence, with many students each year gaining admission to top universities like Oxford, Cambridge, and Ivy League institutions. Admission guidance is the "secret weapon" that helps Harrow students secure their dream offers.
"Confusion" is a common feeling among many families when first facing educational choices, so breaking down information barriers is the first step in Harrow Nanning's admission guidance. In addition to regular Friday admission workshops, the school invites admissions officers from overseas universities for face-to-face interactions with students and parents, providing comprehensive and authoritative application information, clarifying thoughts, and setting clear educational goals. The school has hosted admissions officers from the University of Warwick, the University of Illinois at Chicago, McMaster University, and more. In the coming semester, overseas university fairs and admission planning exhibitions will be held.
"You need to ask yourself, 'What makes you different from others here? What efforts have you made for your chosen major?'" These were the questions asked by the University of Warwick's admissions officer during a visit in November. Overseas universities emphasize holistic education, and university applications aren't just about completing a set of fixed actions or participating in certain competitions and extracurricular activities. Applicants with unique educational experiences are particularly sought after by these universities. Therefore, enriching one's "resume" becomes one of the most crucial tasks in a senior student's academic journey.
The school's core curriculum, extension courses, and project inquiry classes enhance students' academic abilities. Beyond academics, the school provides resources for developing "soft skills": from academic competitions, professional practice to character development, the school does everything it can to support students in their pursuit of their dream universities.
With over 110 CCA (Co-Curricular Activities) classes, a music academy, and elite sports teams, students are encouraged to pursue artistic and athletic excellence, developing perseverance and an indomitable sports spirit. Leadership service projects and super curriculum projects that connect students to the community help them identify and solve real-world problems. Recent initiatives like the planned Antarctic Student Expedition and Sichuan Giant Panda Habitat Conservation Project offer students opportunities for scientific research practice, working alongside researchers to learn methodologies and ignite their passion for scientific inquiry.
With a clear objective and steady progress,
we illuminate each student's unique brilliance,
guiding them to advance on their ideal course.
Confident in the empowerment of our admissions guidance,
Harrow students will accumulate knowledge and experience,
ultimately earning offers from their dream schools!
