并知道遇到困难时可以找谁倾诉;

In our last post on mental wellbeing,
we dived into how we could help children
step out of anxiety and
boost their emotional resilience.
Essential Tips for Managing Anxiety and Achieving Emotional Stability!
This week, we continue to focus
on another topic vital to children's wellbeing:
How can we protect children from bullying at school?
In this digital age, bullying can be in many hidden forms. How can we identify and prevent it?
Raise Safety Awareness through Anti-Bullying Culture at AISL Harrow
Build a 'Firewall' for Children
Our inclusive school culture that
advocates anti-bullying and encourages diversity
stems from Harrow's time-honoured education—
the four core Harrow values of
'Fellowship, Humility, Honour, and Courage'.
From an early age, we guide them to become
kind, respectful, considerate individuals
who know right from wrong.
It is within this supportive environment that
AISL Harrow Schools work with parents and students
to create an anti-bullying environment.
01
Awareness-raising events
to promote constructive dialogue
on bullying
'Physical harm, verbal abuse, exclusion
from a group, online trolling…
How do we identify bullying behaviour?
And how can students seek help?'
From the annual Anti-Bullying Week
to assemblies, class meetings,
teacher-student talks and parent workshops,
the schools invite lawyers, cyber-safety experts
and mental health professionals to educate
teachers, students and parents about the
characteristics and harm of different
types of bullying, and how to address them.
As parents, what can you do?
Through home-school collaboration
and expert guidance, students participate in
various anti-bullying activities such as
the 'Odd Socks Day', 'Student Guardian Programme'
and 'Class Declaration and Poster Challenge'.
Students learn to see and respect
the beauty of diversity, to reach out and seek help
when they or others are in need,
and to deal with bullying in a productive way.
At the end of last year, AISL Harrow Beijing surveyed its students for their views on bullying behaviour,
which revealed that
100% of students said that they
got on well with their teachers,
and that they would know who to talk to
should they encounter any difficulties in school;
99% of students said that they felt safe at school;
98% of pupils said that they felt happy at school
and had nothing that they were worried about;
97% of students said that
they enjoyed coming to school.
Even with such positive feedback, the school
remained diligent in its anti-bullying efforts,
with its moral education team constantly monitoring students' conditions and performing
mental health tests on them weekly
through a self-testing app to provide prompt support.
02
A rigorous anti-bullying
mechanism
With a well-developed anonymous reporting system
and an efficient handling process,
every case of bullying is systematically monitored
from prevention to resolution.

For example in AISL Harrow Nanning, the school's management team provides comprehensive oversight of all anti-bullying incidents that occur at the school, ensuring that all incidents are handled in a closed loop. Meanwhile, the privacy of whistleblowing students is protected
In an age of digital living and learning,
AISL Harrow Schools also organise cybersecurity talks
to educate children on how to make the right judgment and decisions, and protect themselves
while respecting others in the face of false/influential information and negative statements.
Here are some tips from the experts—

——Johnathan Taylor
Peter Lynch
——Peter Lynch先生

Hidden Corners: Cyber-bullying and Safety Risks
AISL Harrow Beijing invited
cybersecurity expert Mr Jonathan Taylor
to conduct a three-day cybersecurity training course
for its teachers and students.
He also held a successful seminar
for parents on these key issues:
how to identify 'fake' and 'suspicious' profiles online
how students can best protect themselves from harmful and dangerous situations online
how to encourage positive use of social media
how your online behaviour could affect future university and job applications
how something you say or do online can be interpreted in different ways by other people
'Young adults are becoming the main users of social media and online gaming. It's so important for online safety to be discussed not just in school but outside of school to make sure there's a support network, a team network to make sure all student stay safe. And one of the most thing that possibly could happen to any children is online bullying. My top tip for students and staff is to support each other and don't be secretive about it. And for parents, always being involved is my number one tip.'
—— Mr Johnathan Taylor
By now, you may have noticed that AISL Harrow Schools
focus primarily on the preventative stage of our anti-bullying mechanism and awareness-raising efforts,
both online and offline.
As Mr Peter Lynch, Assistant Head of Safeguarding & Pupil Safety at AISL Harrow Beijing, said:
'Prevention and early intervention mean putting strategies and interventions in place before a problem arises. Whether a problem occurs or not, these strategies are implemented. The school team is always ready to support, educate and, if necessary, take action to help our students and their families.'
——Mr Peter Lynch
It is our firm commitment to prevention that
continues to fortify the 'Safety Net'
in AISL Harrow campuses,
allowing us to reassure parents and safeguard students' wellbeing online and offline, at school and home.
