Dr. Nan-Ping Weng received his M.D. from Fudan University Shanghai Medical College (former Shanghai First Medical College), China in 1984 and Ph.D. in Immunology from Baylor College of Medicine in 1993. He obtained his postdoctoral training at National Cancer Institute, where he concentrated on breast cancer stem cell biology and cancer metastasis. He then joined theLaboratory of Immunology atNational Institute of Aging as a tenure track investigator. Dr. Weng’s lab focuses onthe molecular mechanisms of T cell aging including identification of key transcriptome and epigenetic changes that causes age-related reduced functions of CD8 T cells and determining the size of general and antigen-specific ab TCR repertoires and their changes with age. The current research of Weng lab also includes identification of the determinants of conventional and CAR T cells in B cell cancer and translating fundamental discoveries into advance clinical practice.
