Weiping Han obtained his Ph.D. at Cornell University and did postdoctoral work at the University of Pittsburgh and HHMI/UT Southwestern Medical Center. Currently he is a distinguished principal scientist at the Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology (A*STAR), professor at National University of Singapore and Duke-NUS Medical School, and a member of the Neurobiology Program at Life Sciences Institute of the National University of Singapore School of Medicine. He is also the program director for the Brain-Body Initiative, an A*STAR Strategic Research Program.Dr. Han’s research interest centers around metabolic homeostasis in health and disease. In today’s talk, he will provide their latest studies in determining the source and relative contribution of macronutrients towards de novo lipogenesis (DNL).
