JOIN US

Three Postdoctoral Research Fellow and two technician positions are available in the laboratory of Dr. Leng Siew Yeap at Shanghai Institute of Immunology (SII), Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine. Dr. Yeap received her Ph.D. from University of Cambridge in 2010 and completed her postdoctoral training in the laboratory of Dr. Frederick Alt at Harvard Medical School. In 2016, she joined Shanghai Institute of Immunology, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine as a Principal Investigator. She is currently a Senior Investigator at SII and a Siyuan Scholar of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. The Yeap lab focuses on understanding the mechanisms that generate rare mutagenic outcomes during antibody diversification processes and how these mutations contribute to antiviral broadly neutralizing activities or autoimmune diseases. Recent publication from the lab includes Cell (2023), Science Immunology (2023), Nature Cell Biology (2024), and Trends in Immunology (2024).

Research Interests

1. Mechanisms of DNA damage and repair during neuronal and immune cell development;

2. Mechanisms of autoimmune diseases (collaboration with Ruijin Hospital);

3. Discovering new features of antibody genes during evolution using AI technology.

Job Requirements

Postdoctoral fellows (3 positions available)

1. The applicants have a Ph.D. degree in the field of molecular biology, cell biology, immunology, neurobiology, bioinformatics or related fields and are interested in leading one of the three research projects listed above.

2. The applicants are expected to have passion for research, critical thinking, and team spirit.

3. Successful applicants will be provided with a competitive salary. Outstanding candidates will be enrolled in the SII Postdoctoral Incentive Plan, or Yu He Postdoctoral Fellowship. In addition, they can also apply for the joint postdoctoral program between SII and Ruijin Hospital.

Technician – antibody screening (1 position)

1. The applicants have a Master degree in the field of molecular biology or immunology.

2. Candidates with antibody screening experience will be preferred although not necessary.

Technician – bioinformatics (1 position)

1. The applicants have a Master or a Ph.D. degree in computer science, bioinformatics, or relevant subjects and are interested to work together with biologists in the laboratory.
