Now let's start. Class begins. Good afternoon, students. Sit down, please.l travelled about 2000kms self to Chongqing, the beautiful city, do you know why? My only purpose is to meet you. Because all of you are lovely and amazing creatures. What about you? Have you ever taken a journey?Yes, where have you been to? You enjoyed a beautiful scenery, right？This is your journey, apart from we humans, many animals on our planet often take a journey too.What animals do you know? Give me an example. Elephants, panda, tiger perhaps. Now, please look at the picture.

What are they? Butterflies, very good. Butterflies are kind of insects. Read after me, insect. And what is the name of the butterfly? The Monarch. Very good, the Monarch Butterfly. Yes, and what does “Monarch” mean? Yes, it means the king or the queen, right? lt means the small but strong and powerful to be the rulers of the butterfly family. Now look at the map, what are the butterflies doing? Yeah, migration, they are making a migration journey. Now, read after me, migration, migration. They migrate from the cold north to the warmer south every year, right? “Annual” means every year, read after me, Annual.Yes, how can they migrate to a destination is a mystery. Please read the passage in 4 minutes and match the main ideas with paragraphs. Here we go!

This is the structure of this passage, the author introduces the migration and then give an example of the monarchs' migration and explain the mystery of their amazing ability and the troubles.And at last advise us to take measures to protect them.    

According to this structure, could you please figure out which type of writing styles does the passage belong to? Yes, an Exposition. Why it isn't a narration? A narration should include who, what, when, where, why, how of a story, so this is not a,narration, right? What about an Argumentation? What is an argumentation? In an argumentation, you will see someone in favor of or strongly oppose certain kind of theory, opinions, right? It is not an Argumentation, so it is in this exposition, the author explains and provides us with information to understand the monarch migration, right? Yes, so it is an exposition, and where are you mostly likely to find this exposition? Which one? Use the microphone.

A, why? Because the second the third paragraph, the first sentences said a team of scientists lead the professor found the answer. You think it is a scientific research paper, right? If it is in a scientific research paper. It should include this information：background, methodology, results, analysis and so on. But according to this structure， is there any information about the methodology? No, so it could not be in the scientific research paper, it could only be in a popular natural magazine introducing the modern butterfly. Well, after a brief understanding of the monarchs’ migration, we will read the detailed information together. OK, now let's read a five pairs one by one.

First, please focus on paragraph. Many animals have migrations right？And migration is a kind of journey.One of means one example of. Where can you find the sentence? The last one, right? Very good. Could anyone help me read it aloud, please? Anyone help me read it aloud? Use the microphone, thank you. Many animals have migrations, right? And migration is a kind of journey, “one of” means “one example of” and where is the example? In para 1 or in para 2?

Paragraph two, so this sentence connects the first two paragraphs, right? And it is called a linking connection. So when you are doing your reading comprehension, please focus on this linking connections. Got it. It's really a skill for you.    

Now let's come to one of the most wonderful migrations, Why does the author call it “one of the most wonderful migrations"? Please read para 2 in 1 min, and describe how wonderful the Monarch migration is. Here we go.

With the help of this cause and effect flow chart, we now have a better understanding of the mystery of their amazing ability, right? Who solve the mystery? Scientists did the scientific discovery journey to solve the mystery right? So the solution comes paragraph4, but when does the solution to their mystery comes?You can find the answer in paragraph four. At a time when, it is in serious trouble, this is the first sentence of paragraph four, it is also called a linking connection very good. so now please read the rest part of paragraph four and find out what is the trouble and why. Here we go. Three minutes.    

Which two are the causes sentence? E and G. Very good! Do you agree? Yes, now let's finish this two sentences... 90 percent means only one in ten survives, right? It’s so bad. Can you find a sentence in paragraph 5 to show what can be done to protect them? If you find the answer, just let me know. Underline the sentence.
