Nestled atop the majestic Guanxiangshan Mountain, where the renowned Sunset Cafe once stood, lies the newly relocated Punch House. This exquisite pub promises an unforgettable experience, combining the allure of panoramic mountain views with an ambiance of refined elegance.
Although perched high on the mountain, Punch House is remarkably accessible. You can easily drive to the venue, with a convenient parking lot available, or opt for a Didi ride.
Upon arrival, you'll need a password to enter—just one of the many charming quirks that make Punch House so unique. Head to the 5th floor of the building, open the door, and ascend the spiral staircase. At the top, you'll be greeted by a magnificent astronomical telescope, hinting at the celestial delights that await. Step outside onto the patio, and you'll be rewarded with a breathtaking mountain vista. A screen is also available, perfect for watching a game or movie while you relax.
Inside, the pub is a beautifully decorated haven. Though small, every detail reflects the impeccable taste of its owner, AJ Wang. The ambiance is intimate and inviting, with a warm, sophisticated charm that makes you feel right at home.
Behind the bar, Anil, the talented bartender, is a maestro of mixology. His adept moves and focused concentration are a sight to behold. True to its name, Punch House boasts a menu brimming with an array of creative cocktails and mocktails.
Among the delightful concoctions we tried, I highly recommend the Fizzy Gin Something Something Punch. This refreshing drink offers a perfect balance of sweet and sour, with a hint of floral aroma—ideal for a lazy summer night. For those who prefer non-alcoholic options, the Fruits-in-Suits Punch is a fantastic choice. This mocktail features a strong minty flavor complemented by rich tropical fruit notes, all served in an adorable panda-shaped cup.
One of Punch House's standout features is its live jazz scene. Every Friday and Saturday night at 9:30 PM, talented musicians take the stage, immersing themselves in the music with a palpable passion and devotion. The atmosphere is electric, and the free-flowing jazz is nothing short of mesmerizing. Be sure to arrive early to secure a prime spot.
Jazz, booze, and a gentle mountain breeze—Punch House offers everything you could wish for on a perfect summer night in Qingdao.
