Haus AA is located in the Pier-2 Art Center in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. It was formerly the old warehouse of the First Bank. With the joint efforts of Aaron Nieh Workshop and guudpin design, it has been transformed into an office space full of creativity and agility, fully demonstrating the unique charm of interior and exterior decoration design.
In order to preserve the original charm of the building, the design team chose to retain the original exposed structure of the warehouse, and the old digital marks on the warehouse were also well preserved. These elements carry the stories of the past of the space and become a rare historical mark in the new design. At the same time, the restored walls are plastered and painted. The color and texture complement the aging space, creating a cool and profound atmosphere. When you walk from the outside to the inside, you can feel the slow flow of time.
Entering the room, the functional areas are divided into cubic forms to create relatively independent personal spaces. However, these enclosed spaces are not isolated. The designer deformed the enclosures through a series of carefully designed openings to achieve organic connections between the areas and promote frequent exchanges of people's ideas. The collision of cubic blocks, stainless steel countertops and rough concrete structures not only strengthens the unique texture of the space, but also gives the space a rich sense of hierarchy.
The introduction of natural elements injects vitality into the space. A pair of windows that reach the ceiling cleverly bring sunlight into the room, where the light is constantly reflected and intertwined with the geometric interior space. The natural scenery outside the window is reflected into the room as the light changes, and it dialogues with the interior space. The flow and interweaving of light and shadow visually deconstructs the shape of the pillars covered with mirrors, blurring the boundaries between indoors and outdoors, allowing people to always feel the rhythm of nature indoors.
In the spatial level design, the designer cleverly uses the ambiguity of light to integrate with the daily office life trajectory. The intensity and brightness of light at different spatial levels echo with people's activities in the space, together creating a free and flowing space. Here, space is no longer a static container, but a dynamic place that changes over time with the interaction of users.
The interior and exterior decoration design of Haus AA successfully integrates history and modernity, nature and man-made, closed and open. It not only provides users with a fully functional office environment, but also creates a creative space that can inspire inspiration and promote communication, becoming an excellent example of the combination of old building renovation and innovative design.
