2023年12月21日,SLSK2举办了第二期以《幼儿阶段的学习方法》为主题的家长工作坊,该内容与IB学习方法以及项目相关联。这次工作坊至关重要,因为家长们渴望了解更多有关 IB-PYP项目的信息。学校此前发布过一篇关于ATL的文章,家长也进行了初期的阅读,功能室里座无虚席。

On December 21st 2023, SLSK2 held its second workshop on the topic of skills in early years, which was linked with the IB framework on approaches to learning. This workshop was essential because parents were eager to learn more about the IB PYP framework. The school had written an article on ATL in the early years, and parents had gone through it, which led to a great turnout for this workshop.

幼儿园园长 Kirra 女士和 PYP 协调员 Anup 先生主持了此次工作坊,重点讨论了技能的重要性以及如何在幼儿时期帮助孩子们提升这些技能。家长通过阅读IBO的官方文件来深入理解每项技能和其对应的子技能。他们还讨论了一些基于学科学习相关的技能,并将它们与孩子当前的技能联系起来。家长们全情投入参与此次工作坊,认真阅读且做好记录,并在同桌小组中进行讨论。

Ms Kirra, Head of Kindergarten, and the PYP coordinator, Mr Anup, led the workshop, which focused on the need for skills and how children can improve their skills during the early years. Parents interacted with the essential skills and went through the IBO's document by reading each skill and sub-skill set. They also discussed some of the skills associated with subject-based learning and related them to their child's current skill set. Parents eagerly took notes, read the documents carefully, and discussed them within their table groups.

当然,如果没有引人入胜的活动,就不算是一个成功的工作坊。在工作坊期间,主持人 Anup 先生和 Kirra 女士介绍了一项活动,要求参与者使用 ATL 中的所有五种技能来执行。任务是仅使用稻草和胶带建造一座稻草塔, 家长可以在有限的时间内自由组建自己的小组。活动的初期成功激发了家长的能动性,随后,主持人给出了明确的指示和10分钟的限定。最初,家长们考虑如何完成这项任务,然后他们准备了塔的基础部分。渐渐地,出于竞争的考虑,家长们使劲浑身解数努力把塔加高。活动非常有趣同时大家也进行了反思,提出了一些与IB学习方法文档中的子技能相关的主要问题。每个小组的家长都进行了回顾和分享,他们认为基于游戏的活动可以帮助识别和发展孩子的多种技能,同时帮助孩子们打开更加宽广的世界。

Certainly, a workshop can't be deemed successful without an engaging activity. During the workshop, the facilitators, Mr Anup and Ms Kirra, introduced an activity that required the participants to use all five skill sets present in the ATL. The task was to build a straw tower using only straws and tape. The parents were given the freedom to form their own groups within a limited time frame. This was the initial success of bringing agency into play. Later, the facilitators gave clear instructions and a time frame of 10 minutes. Initially, the parents were figuring out how to go about the task, and then they prepared the initial base. Gradually, with the competition in mind, the parents used extreme ways to make the tower taller. It was great fun, but there was also reflection on the activity with some leading questions related to the sub skill set from the IB ATL early years document. Parents shared their reflection with other table groups, and they could relate that a play-based activity can help identify and develop multiple skills in a child, and which was an eye-opener for many.

最后,我们向每个年级的家长展示了孩子们在校园内展示使用这些技能和子技能的证据。家长们很高兴看到孩子能实际有效地在技能上取得进步。在反思过程中,他们还提到日常的游戏化学习、探究课程以及校外旅行等都与IB的五大技能有联系。我们相信,工作坊的成功举办不仅有助于建立家长的信心,同时还能激发他们作为学习社区的一部分给学校和幼儿的学习提供大力的支持。总的来说,此次工作坊圆满落幕,每个人都获得了启发和灵感。下一场IB家长工作坊定于三月举行,敬请期待吧!

At a later stage, evidence was presented to parents at each grade level demonstrating how their children were developing and showcasing various skills and sub-skills. Parents were thrilled to see their child's picture and could easily recognize the progress made in their skills. During the reflection, parents could relate the play-based activities, daily unit of inquiry classes, and field trips with the IB ATL skills. We believe that this has helped build confidence and garnered massive support from the parents as part of the learning community. Another IB Parent workshop is scheduled for March. Overall, the workshop was a tremendous success, and everyone left feeling energized and inspired.
