A Celebration of Compassion and Innovation

Introduction
On June 7, 2024, the eighth grade students of Shanghai Pinghe Bilingual School Qingpu showcased their Project Based Learning (PBL) Charity Event, demonstrating their skills, creativity, and passion for making a difference. This year’s theme was “Charity,” and students worked diligently over the past month to research, plan, and execute projects that addressed various social issues.
2024年6月7日,青浦平和八年级学生进行了以“慈善”为主题的英语项目化学习成果展示。同学们选取了各自关注的社会问题,在一个月的时间里调查、研究、并制定计划以及解决方案。
Charity events raise awareness and support for important causes, bringing people together and inspiring action. For our English-based charity projects, students investigated issues they were passionate about, conducted in-depth research, and created T-shirts and websites to promote their causes. These projects focused on helping animals, protecting the environment, growing trees, saving water, and aiding those in need.
不同于传统的课堂学习,这次活动让同学们走出教室,用自己的方式为社会贡献力量。流浪动物的庇护所、贫困地区的图书捐赠、环保和节水的倡导,每个小组都用自己的智慧和热情,期待为这个世界带来一点点改变。
Friday’s exhibition began with six teams that were chosen as the best amongst their peers and were given the opportunity to give a five-minute presentation to the entire eighth grade. Members of the eighth grade class along with teachers were then called upon to vote to determine the ranking of these six teams.
经过首轮展示,六个最佳团队凭借出色的创意和执行力,赢得了大家的认可。当天,六个团队逐一进行成果展示,随后全体投票确定六组的排名。
项目成果展示
First place was awarded to “P.A.S.A” (Protecting and Saving Animals), a team from Class 2 Grade 8. They worked together to create awareness and solutions for animal protection and welfare.

获得一等奖的团队经过深入研究,提出了多种保护动物的措施,让在场的每一个人都深受触动。
Second place was awarded to two teams. The first team aimed to protect the environment and bring awareness to deforestation, soil and water loss, climate change, and the decrease of biodiversity. The other team focused on improving educational resources and opportunities for underprivileged communities.
二等奖获得者有两组。M.E.P.E团队以“提升人类对森林砍伐、水土流失、气候变化和生物多样性减少的认识”为项目重点;Elevated Education团队致力于改善贫困社区的教育资源和机会。

Third place was awarded to three teams. The first team, Take It or Leave It, aimed to promote sustainability through the sharing and reuse of resources. The second team, H.E.V.E.R.S, focused on recycling plastic to make clothing. The third team, Haven for Hope, was dedicated to providing support and resources for domestic violence victims.
三等奖获得者有三组。Take It or Leave It团队,旨在通过资源的共享和再利用来促进可持续发展;H.E.V.E.R.S团队,专注于回收塑料以制作服装;Haven for Hope,则致力于为家庭暴力受害者提供支持和资源。
In addition to the top six teams ,an additional six teams were chosen as honorable mentions. Teams that also strived to great heights and were deserving of recognition.
除了前六名外,另有六支团队获得荣誉奖。这些团队的成果也达到了一定高度,受到了大家的认可和肯定。分别是:

· S.A.S.P
· Save Them Save Us

After the six chosen teams presented their charity displays, the official exhibition commenced. The event culminated in a walkthrough where students used tokens to vote for their favorite projects, fostering a sense of community involvement and support for each cause.
在六支入选队伍展示完小组设计后,正式的慈善活动展览开始了。同学们可以通过互动提问的形式了解各个慈善活动,并为最打动自己的项目投票。
This year’s PBL Charity Event not only highlighted the students’ academic and creative achievements but also their dedication to making a positive impact in the world. Congratulations to all the participants for their outstanding work and heartfelt contributions!
这次慈善主题的项目化学习不仅让同学们体验到了公益活动的乐趣和价值,也让他们学会了如何运用所学知识解决实际问题。感谢所有同学们和老师们的辛勤付出和贡献!
