A tragic incident has unfolded in a remote village in Sichuan, Province, where a 55-year-old woman, Wang Heqiu, was murdered by a fan she met in person after building an online relationship. Known for her live-streamed performances, Wang had used beauty filters and virtual gifts to attract a loyal following. However, what seemed like a fairytale relationship quickly turned into a nightmare when her most dedicated supporter turned violent.

Wang Heqiu, a middle-aged woman from a small Sichuan village, had turned to live-streaming to bring excitement and joy back into her life. Previously feeling trapped in the monotony of rural living, she found solace in sharing her daily experiences with viewers from across the country. On her live streams, Wang used beauty filters to make herself appear younger and more glamorous, singing and dancing to entertain her growing audience.

Among her most devoted fans was Wang Mingquan, a 43-year-old man who had become known as her “Number One Supporter.” He showered her with expensive virtual gifts, which made him a familiar figure in her online community. Over time, their interactions moved beyond the digital realm, and the two agreed to meet in person.

On the day of their meeting, Wang Heqiu had carefully prepared, choosing an eye-catching traditional dress and applying makeup to maintain her youthful image. When they met, however, the reality was far different from the virtual persona. Wang Mingquan, who had been captivated by her online appearance, was visibly disappointed by her natural look. He had imagined someone much younger and more attractive, and their first meeting quickly turned awkward.

Initially, Wang Heqiu tried to keep the conversation light and engaging, recounting her experiences as a live streamer, hoping to ease the tension. However, Wang Mingquan seemed detached and uninterested, often distracted by his phone. The chemistry between them was nonexistent, and what was supposed to be a friendly encounter quickly became uncomfortable.

Despite her efforts, the atmosphere grew increasingly cold. Wang Heqiu, feeling rejected, was reminded of her earlier life, where she had often felt isolated and lonely. Her marriage to her ex-husband, Cai Youliang, had ended in divorce due to constant arguments, leaving her emotionally drained. Despite the separation, the two continued living under the same roof due to financial constraints, further exacerbating her feelings of loneliness.

The online relationship with Wang Mingquan had offered her a sense of companionship, but the reality of their face-to-face interaction revealed the harsh truth: virtual connections do not always translate into real-world bonds.

As their real-life encounter unfolded, Wang Mingquan’s admiration for Wang Heqiu seemed to fade. He became increasingly disillusioned with her, particularly after discovering her gambling habits. He began to publicly criticize her, claiming she was deceiving her online audience with a false image and making financial demands. His comments sparked an online feud, drawing attention to the discrepancy between Wang Heqiu’s live-streamed persona and her real life.

The negative attention online deeply affected Wang Heqiu, who tried to suppress the growing backlash but found herself overwhelmed by the accusations. In a fit of frustration, she blocked Wang Mingquan on social media, which only angered him further.

The tension reached its peak one evening when Wang Mingquan decided to confront Wang Heqiu in person. He arrived at her home, furious and demanding that she acknowledge the deception he believed she had perpetrated. An argument quickly escalated, and in a moment of rage, Wang Mingquan grabbed a rope from inside her house and strangled her.

Realizing the gravity of his actions, he fled the scene, attempting to cover up the crime. It wasn’t long before Wang Heqiu’s ex-husband, noticing something was wrong, went upstairs to check on her. What he found horrified him: Wang Heqiu was dead. He immediately called the police.

The authorities quickly identified Wang Mingquan as the prime suspect and, after reviewing surveillance footage and conducting interviews, arrested him. During questioning, he admitted to the murder, expressing no remorse for his actions. "I hated her," he said, explaining that his feelings of betrayal and anger had driven him to kill.

The murder of Wang Heqiu has shocked both her online followers and the local community, raising serious concerns about the risks of online relationships. Her tragic death highlights the dangers of building connections in the virtual world, where appearances can be deceptive, and emotions can quickly spiral out of control.
