Burjeel Holdings

The next generation will inherit a planet suffering from the extreme effects of climate change, in ways we do not yet understand. We do know that no country, continent or community will be left untouched. From the devastation wrought by drought and flood, threatening the supply of food and water, to the ever-rising number of climate change refugees, tomorrow’s leaders will have significant climate change challenges to contend with.

Therefore, Burjeel Holdings, one of the leading healthcare providers in the Middle East, and Oxford Saïd, one of Europe's leading business schools, have launched a global competition for today's teachers and tomorrow’s leaders, entrepreneurs and change-makers worldwide to submit their ideas for tackling climate change and protecting life on Earth.

The Burjeel Holdings Oxford Saïd Climate Change Challenge invites students aged 15 to 18 to present their proposals for addressing the crisis. They are asked to respond to one of five key areas: air pollution, extreme weather events, water scarcity, food security, and the spread of disease carried by insects.

High school educators are encouraged to participate by submitting climate change lesson plans that raise awareness and inspire students to think creatively about tackling one of the most pressing concerns of our time. The deadline for the competition has also been extended to 15 October, so more young people and teachers can enter.

The Burjeel Holdings Oxford Saïd Climate Change Challenge culminates in a ceremony for ten finalists during COP28 in Dubai, later this December – five teams from the student category and five individuals from the teacher category. They will have the remarkable opportunity to present their solutions to a distinguished audience in Dubai, and the winners will earn a coveted spot in a bespoke program at Oxford Saïd. Furthermore, they will gain access to a vibrant community of influential entrepreneurs and thought leaders in innovation and social impact from around the globe.
