Casa en el Bosque is a remodeling project of a family weekend house in the woods in Valle de Bravo, Mexico.
The client is family who has owned this house for 35 years. From grandparents to grandchildren and dogs, this is a gathering point in the weekends and vacations. A place where the family goes to reconnect with nature, spend quality time with each other, cook, relax and nourish each other.
The key challenge was to preserve the identity of the house and the family: simplicity, harmony and years of cherished memories.
This project reflects in a very personal way my vision and that of DIRECCION: “silent luxury”. Where the connection between nature and the senses; what we touch, see, hear, smell and taste becomes the central focus of design.
I firmly believe that the spaces we inhabit have the capacity to transform our emotions and our energy. Not only because of the memories they keep, but also because of how they make us feel: introspection, peace, harmony, inspiration. This house in the forest for me and my family is refuge for the soul.
To create an environment of simplicity and harmony that nourishes you, we used sand and terracota tones throughout the house. Natural materials such as wood, stone, and linen fabrics that age with dignity and that with time acquire a patina that make them even more beautiful, unique and interesting. Also many objects from the family heirloom and from trips they’ve made throughout their lives were integrated as part of the interiors and decor.
