How To Score Well for the 3 Math Olympiad Competitions Next Year

文摘   2024-09-11 23:06   新加坡

As parents, we all want our children to excel, especially in important academic areas like Mathematics.

When it comes to Math, three major competitions stand out: the National Mathematical Olympiad of Singapore (NMOS), the Raffles Mathematical Olympiad (RMO), and the Asia-Pacific Mathematical Olympiad for Primary Schools (APMOPS).

These competitions are highly respected, and performing well in them can significantly boost a student's Direct School Admission (DSA) applications, opening doors to some of the best secondary schools.

However, preparing for these competitions can feel overwhelming. Many parents find themselves asking:

What exactly are these Math Olympiad competitions, and why are they important?

How do I gauge my child’s current ability in Math Olympiad-level problems?

How can I best support my child’s preparation for these challenging competitions?

What study habits and skills are most effective for Math Olympiad success, and how can I help my child develop them?

Kangaroo Study's Answer to These Questions

Group Test

To help parents answer these questions and ensure their children are well-prepared, Kangaroo Study has designed a specialized group test that addresses these concerns effectively:

01

Understanding the Math Olympiad Competitions and Their Importance

During the parent session, we will provide an overview of the NMOS, RMO, and APMOPS, explaining what these competitions entail, their significance, and how they can benefit your child's academic journey and future opportunities.

02

Gauging Your Child’s Current Ability in Math Olympiad Problems:

The group test provides a clear assessment of your child's current skills and readiness for these competitions. It is tailored to match the grade-specific curriculum (2025 P4 to P6), allowing us to identify their strengths and pinpoint areas needing improvement. This helps you understand how well your child is prepared and what specific areas to focus on.

03

Supporting Your Child's Preparation for Competitions:

We share effective strategies for success in Math Olympiads that go beyond regular classroom learning. Our teachers provide insights into the best practices for developing a strong foundation and consistent study habits necessary for math competition excellence.

04

Developing Effective Study Habits and Skills:

We will share proven strategies that help students build strong study habits and skills crucial for excelling in Math Olympiads, ensuring they remain motivated and focused.

What Happens During the Group Test?

40 Minutes - Student Exam:

A 10-question exam tailored to each grade

Parent Session During the Exam:

While students take the test, parents participate in a session where our teachers introduce the Math Olympiad competitions and how to use scientific methods to design preparation strategies for the competitions.

1 Hour - Review of Incorrect Questions:

After the exam, students receive personalized feedback on the questions they answered incorrectly. This review helps them understand their mistakes, learn the correct approaches, and deepen their understanding of key concepts.

20 Minutes - One-on-One Tailored Recommendations:

Our teachers will provide parents and students with one-on-one tailored recommendations to enhance study habits and preparation strategies, helping them develop a focused, structured plan for improvement.
