This Chinese Film Nights event is a continuation of the Ruthin International Arts Festival 2024, designed to extend the festival's cultural momentum and further explore the unique charm of Chinese cinema. By showcasing two highly representative films — Xiao Wu (Pickpocket) and East Palace, West Palace, we aim to provide audiences with a profound experience of Chinese society and culture.
露丝国际艺术节致力于打造一个能让多元文化共生共荣的国际艺术平台，通过国际艺术节、当代艺术展览、参与性艺术活动等，给予观众们接触到来自世界各地的艺术文化的机会，并为旅居在他乡的艺术家提供一个表达交流的场所。本次电影展映活动旨在向剑桥大学广大师生展示中国电影的艺术成就，通过两部具有社会和文化意义的影片，深入探讨当代中国社会中的重要议题。
The Ruthin International Arts Festival is committed to creating an international arts platform that fosters the coexistence and mutual flourishing of diverse cultures. Through the art festival, contemporary art exhibitions, and participatory art activities, it provides audiences with the opportunity to engage with artistic expressions from around the world. Additionally, it offers a space for artists living abroad to express themselves and engage in cultural exchange. This film screening event not only highlights the artistic achievements of Chinese cinema but also delves into significant social and cultural issues through these two impactful films.

Following each screening, Dr. Zhou Yu will host a discussion to explore the themes and context of the films, facilitating a deeper understanding of Chinese cinema and culture. We hope this event will help connect attendees with the cultural themes of the Ruthin International Arts Festival, broaden perspectives, and experience different forms of cultural expression.
