Running
Starting at 6 PM, the area beneath Dormitories X32 and X33 was lit with a colorful glow. Dozens of JIers, adorned with custom glow wristbands and dressed in lightweight sportswear, set off from there, embarking on the much-anticipated annual Glow Night Run.
Glow Night Run
As darkness fell and the clock struck 7, a signal launched 11 teams to dash towards their designated checkpoints. At each stop, volunteers holding glow sticks stood out like the brightest stars in the night, warmly welcoming arriving participants under the soft glow of hanging lights.
Various games offered runners brief respite from the exertion, allowing them to revel in the challenges. Quick Q&A sessions, "Add a Stroke," and number-chaining games sparked creative thinking, while word challenges tested group synergy. Traditional activities such as ring toss, bottle standing, and bead picking encouraged runners to focus and regulate their breathing amidst the rush. Breathless but determined, participants reached the checkpoints, completed challenges to earn clues, and hurried onward. Their laughter and energy spread across campus, drawing curious peers from other schools who cheered them on, becoming impromptu spectators to the vibrant spectacle.
By 7:30 PM, the first team crossed the line with an impressive performance, earning the grand prize of sports wristbands. Subsequent teams also received glow accessories and various Michigan-themed cultural merchandise. Participants gathered with their teammates to capture the moment with group photos, their hands adorned with glowing bracelets. What was once a quiet night transformed into a dazzling and jubilant celebration of colors.
This memorable evening saw participants strengthening their bodies and deepening friendships among classmates. It was a joyful and meaningful experience under the glowing canopy of the campus night.
