In today's fast-paced and ever-changing world, the role of parents has become increasingly complex. With the rise of technology, social media, and other external influences, raising children in the 21st century presents unique challenges. The Positive Parenting Workshop at WAS Changzhou Lower School sought to address these challenges by providing parents with practical, easy-to-implement tools and strategies to promote positive interactions and effective communication with their children.
The workshop began with an overview of the PRAISE skills, emphasising their importance in cultivating a supportive and nurturing environment in the home.
Paise
Praise encourages positive behaviour and reinforces a child's self-esteem;
Reflection
Reflection involves active listening and empathetic responses to a child's thoughts and feelings;
Imitation
Imitation allows parents to model desired behaviours for their children;
Description
Description involves providing specific feedback and guidance;
Enjoyment
Finally, enjoyment emphasises creating joyful and meaningful experiences with children.
By the end of the workshop, parents left with a deeper understanding of the PRAISE skills and how they can be applied in daily interactions with their children. The workshop aimed to empower parents to create a positive and supportive family environment, fostering healthy emotional development and strong parent-child bonds.
