On 17 October, Mr Patrick Sherrington, Chair of the International Committee at Wycombe Abbey UK, and Ms Diana Rose, Chair of the Education Committee at Wycombe Abbey UK, visited our school and met with our leadership team, academic team as well as teachers and students for an in-depth review.
Deepening Connections:
Discussing the Future
of Holistic Education
Wycombe Abbey UK, the sister school of WASCZ, was founded in 1896. Wycombe Abbey, located in Buckinghamshire, UK, is a leading independent sector school renowned for its education excellence. It consistently ranks top in all major league tables and holds a strong record of university destinations, with over one-third of its students being admitted to Oxford, Cambridge and other top universities every year.
Mr Sherrington and Ms Rose are long-standing friends of WAS Changzhou and maintain close communication with us. Each year, representatives from our sister school in the UK visit and support us across a range of areas, including pastoral care, academics, teaching, and campus development, providing a broader platform for our students to learn and grow.
During this visit, the senior leadership team at WAS Changzhou warmly welcomed Mr Sherrington and Ms Rose. Their positive feedback on our achievements in holistic education, school management, and teaching practices is a testament to our continued commitment to high standards. Their commendations should make us all feel proud of our educational journey.
Academic Communication:
Pursuing Excellence in Education
Mr Sherrington and Ms Rose also met with the entire leadership team for pastoral, community, and enrichment, along with the school' s SENCO, counsellors, and several subject teachers, to gain a deeper understanding of the curriculum and teaching practices. This comprehensive discussion encompassed all grades, progression to higher education, the boarding system, student well-being, and communication between the school and families. The visitors were impressed with the quality of teaching, campus management, and enhanced psychological support for students, and they offered valuable suggestions for further improvement.
Student Conversations:
Pastoral Care
Over lunch, Mr Sherrington and Ms Rose dined with British students from our scholarship programme in our bright and spacious new canteen. They discussed practical matters such as hygiene management and the quality of meals, while also engaging students in conversations about their aspirations and academic journeys. Their words of encouragement should have left the students feeling motivated and inspired to make the most of their time at WAS Changzhou.
Over the past twelve years, Wycombe Abbey UK has provided an international platform for WAS Changzhou. Recently, our two schools were named among the top 150 private schools globally, sharing recognition on the world stage and showcasing the success of our holistic education philosophy. With close academic exchanges and collaboration with Wycombe Abbey UK, WAS Changzhou continues to innovate and seek practical results in education.
This visit has strengthened the bond between WAS Changzhou and our sister school, Wycombe Abbey UK. Looking ahead, we are excited to maintain our strong ties, continue learning from each other, and work together to explore new approaches to holistic education. This future collaboration fills us with hope and excitement as we draw a beautiful blueprint for the future of holistic education.
