在常州威雅,我们拥有十二所不同的学院,每所学院都以一位世界著名历史人物来命名,这些学院对于我们的学生而言,是像家,但又远超家一般的存在。在中学部,每一位寄宿学生的学院不仅是他们生活的地方,也是他们建立起坚固友谊的所在。在幼儿园,孩子们也会被分配到其中的八所学院中,我们也希望将学院所代表的友谊与团队合作精神介绍给孩子们。
Houses at WAS Changzhou are like a home away from home. In Upper School, a boarding student' s house is where they live and make everlasting friendships. In Kindergarten, we want to promote this culture of friendship and teamwork to our students.
在学年初的时候,我们向孩子们介绍了常州威雅的十二所学院,每一所学院的背后都是一个团队,象征着集体的努力。学生们可以通过自己在学业上和课堂上的表现获得学院积分,每个学院都拥有专属的学院色,我们会使用相应颜色的小球来代表不同学院所获得的积分。学生们会在学习生活中通过努力赢得这些学院积分球,每周五的学生集会上,学生们会将学院积分球倒入学院积分展示装置并进行统计,由此评出积分最高的学院。这个过程能够让学生们意识到,他们的努力不仅是为了自己,也是为了整个团队的荣誉。当然,学生们都会期待成为积分最高的学院,因为这代表着他们所在的学院是最优秀的团队。
We introduce houses to children at the beginning of the year; a house is a team, a collective effort. Students receive house points for their effort both academically and pastorally in class. We use physical balls in our house colours to give the students. Students collect these in their classrooms and pour them to our house point display on a Friday in assembly. The aim of this is to show young students that their hard work is not only for themselves but to support their team, and of course students look forward to being the house with the most house points!
在几周前,我们的幼儿园小班新生们也被分配到了不同的学院,每周,我们都会开展学院活动来帮助他们融入集体、熟悉彼此。幼儿园的孩子们会互相交换教室,无论长幼,都可以聚一起进行团队合作。
A few weeks' ago, our new K1 students were assigned a house. They loved joining their team in assembly. Each week, we engage in house activities where children from Kindergarten swap classrooms and mix with older and younger children, working cooperatively with each other.
本周,我们也有幸邀请到了小学部的学生们来向幼儿园的孩子们介绍每个学院的特色,并讲述了这些学院所代表的著名人物——比如达夫学院的代表人物弗朗西丝·达夫女士,即英国威科姆阿贝学校的创始人;还有牛顿学院的代表人物——著名物理学家和数学家艾萨克·牛顿爵士等。这些小学生们都是各个学院的优秀代表,他们分享了学院之间一起开展的活动和比赛,以及讲述了为自己的学院感到如何自豪。幼儿园的孩子们认真地听着这些小代表们声情并茂的讲述,一颗颗有关学院精神的小小种子已在他们心里悄然种下。
This week we had the pleasure of having children from Lower School introduce each house to our children and talk about the famous figures – Dove House and Dame Frances Dove, the founder of Wycombe Abbey UK; Newton House, named after the physicist and mathematician Sir Isaac Newton, to name a few. The lower school students also spoke about why they are proud of their house and activities they do together. It was wonderful to see these young ambassadors present to the KG children.

在集体中生活、在集体中成长,这对孩子们来说具有深远的意义。未来,我们的目标是让孩子们参与到更多的学院活动中去,让他们在课堂之外建立更坚固的友谊,并培养出受益一生的合作精神与责任感。
Going forward we aim to engage in more house activities, building stronger friendships and collaboration beyond the classroom.
