第22章 苏珊分享好消息
内容：鲍勃告诉苏珊乡村市场不再购买他们的饼干了。苏珊告诉鲍勃国营饼干公司想要买下美味饼干的股权。

日积月累：
1、not any more：no longer；not any longer 不再 常用于表示某事物或情况已经不再存在或发生，或者某人不再具有某种状态或特征
① No one's going to hurt you. No one. Not any more. 没有人会伤害你了，不会有人了，再也不会有了。
② Not any more since there is a fund shortage for all public schools. 自从全国性的经费短缺后就好景不再了。
2、What's the matter? = What's up? = What happened? 怎么了？这个表达在第2章出现过。
3、sell like hotcakes：sell fast; be a popular item 非常抢手；畅销；热卖；大卖 指的是某样东西被迅速大量地售出。这个表达在第17章出现过。
4、dragon lady：bitch [slang]；shrew；a nasty woman who misuses her power 一个女人咆哮起来就像龙在喷火，这样子的凶巴巴女人形象就叫dragon lady, 也就是我们说的母老虎，母夜叉。
① As a man, frankly to say, I don't like to treat a dragon lady to my wife. 坦白讲，作为一个男人，我不喜欢一个女强人作为妻子。
② But the Dragon lady's blackballed me from every firm in the city. 而且那个女魔头还跟每家公司都说我的坏话。
5、better off：in a more fortunate position 状况较好的；较富裕的
① Families will be better off under the new law. 新法律会使家庭经济宽裕一些。
② Families will be better off under the new law. 这项新法律将使每个家庭的经济较前宽裕。
③ They are much better off than us. 他们比我们富得多。
6、have nothing to do with (sb. or sth.): not have any relationship with sb.；to not get involvedwith sth. 与……没有关系 或 与……毫无关系
① I'd have nothing to do with him, if I were you. 如果我是你，我就不会跟他有任何瓜葛。
② Jack would have nothing to do with such capers 杰克不愿扯上这种荒唐的事。
7、not my cup of tea：the type of person or thing one generally likes 喜爱的事物；中意的人(本片语总是用在否定句中) 这个表达在第5章页出现过。
8、that's the way the cookie crumbles：that's the way things 事情就这样了；大局已定
① You lost your job? That's the way the cookie crumbles. 你工作丢了？真是天有不测风云。
② When you lost something, instead of getting angry or sad, you might just accept it and say that's the way the cookie crumbles. 当你失去一些东西的时候，除了愤怒和伤心，你只能接受它，因为这就是生活。
crumble 崩溃;(使)破碎，成碎屑;瓦解;粉碎;坍塌;损坏;崩裂;消亡;(开始渐渐)衰退，衰弱
9、get it：understand
① Cut the crap. Look, I get it. 别废话了，听着，我懂得。
② Next time we'll get it right. 下次我们就不会错了。
10、no laughing matter：nothing to joke about；something serious 非同儿戏；正经事
① The loss of so much money if no laughing matter. 损失了这么多的钱可是件严重的事。
② We feel that life is no laughing matter. 我们觉得人生绝非是开玩笑的事情。
11、buy out：purchase an entire business or someone'sshare of a business 买断；并购；控制股权收购；买下…的股权（或产权）。这个表达在前一章出现过。

13、it looks like：it's likely that
① It looks like you're trying to get back together. 你看上去像是想挽回这一切。
② It looks like we're going to be late. 看来我们要迟到了。
14、strike it rich：attain sudden financial success ) 暴富;发大财
① He struck it rich with the winming lottery ticket. 他中了彩票，一夜暴富了。
② He thought he would never strike it rich or gain lots of money unexpectedly. 他从没有想过他会突然走运，一夜暴富，或者意外获得横财。
③ He struck it rich by investing in the stock market and making millions of dollars. 他通过投资股市而一夜暴富，赚取了数百万美元。
④ For a time he really thought he was going to strike it rich. 有一段时间，他真以为自己要一夜暴富了。
15、rolling in dough: very rich；rolling in it；rolling in money；loaded 在钱里打滚；坐在钱堆上
dough 面团，是money的俗语，这个俚语形容一个人非常富有，有很多钱。可以用来描述一个人的经济状况非常好，拥有很多财富。
在日常会话中,有时会用wallow这个字来代替roll,说成wallow in dough,这两者都是make alot of money(赚很多钱)的意思。
eg. They don't need to work anymore. They're rolling in dough.他们不再需要工作了，他们现在很有钱了。
