Meet the Trojan-Hunting SEI Researchers Improving Computer Vision

Researchers from Carnegie Mellon's Software Engineering Institute (SEI) have developed a method called Feature Embeddings Using Diffusion (FEUD) to detect and visualize trojans—malicious patches in computer vision models. David Shriver and Hayden Moore lead this project, which aims to make these vulnerabilities identifiable to human analysts. Their work, which won second place in an IEEE competition, uses generative AI to highlight trojan images, ensuring AI systems' safety and reliability.
