A mother’s unconventional decision to hire a delivery rider to take her child to school has become the center of heated discussions across social media platforms in China. The story went viral after the rider revealed that this task was his daily morning routine.

According to reports, the mother, reluctant to brave the cold mornings, regularly books the delivery service to escort her child to school. The rider takes the child on his electric scooter, ensures they reach the school gate safely, and even snaps a photo of the child entering the school premises to send to the mother. The mother, in turn, leaves a positive review for the service.

In an online post explaining her decision, the mother shared her perspective. “It’s just a five-minute ride from the after-school care center to the tutoring class. I’ve coordinated with both teachers, and everything goes smoothly. While I don’t advocate relying on strangers for such tasks, I truly appreciate this rider for accepting the job under special circumstances.”

The incident has sparked widespread debate among netizens, with opinions ranging from sharp criticism to expressions of understanding.

One commenter lamented, “If you’re too lazy to get up and take care of your child, maybe you shouldn’t have had one in the first place.” Another wrote, “This is simply unbelievable. How can a parent entrust a stranger with such an important responsibility?”

Others, however, were more forgiving. A user from Shanghai shared, “In Shanghai, there are monthly services specifically for taking children to school, though I’ve never heard of it being done with an electric scooter.” Another commenter chimed in, “My cousin in Shanghai pays another relative 2,000 yuan a month to take her child to and from school.”
