A Georgia court has sentenced William Zulock, 34, and Zachary Zulock, 36, to 100 years in prison without parole for sexually abusing their adopted sons. The case, which shocked the affluent Atlanta suburb where they lived, revealed systematic abuse of two young brothers whom the couple had adopted through a Christian special-needs organization in 2018.
District Attorney Randy McGinley described the case as representing "the depth of depravity" while praising the remarkable resilience shown by the young victims, now aged 12 and 10. The abuse began when the children were just three and five years old.
The couple, who maintained an outward appearance of normalcy with careers in banking and government, pleaded guilty to multiple charges including aggravated child molestation, aggravated sodomy, and sexual exploitation of children. Law enforcement's investigation uncovered over seven terabytes of digital evidence documenting the abuse, including surveillance footage and mobile data containing graphic materials.
The case came to light in 2022 when authorities were alerted through the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about suspicious material uploaded to a Google account. Further investigation revealed the couple's connection to a local abuse network, with evidence suggesting they had used social media platforms to exploit the children.
During police questioning, both defendants admitted to years of abuse against their adopted sons. The case highlighted potential systemic failures, as it emerged that Zachary had previously faced accusations of child assault in 2011, though those charges were not pursued at the time.
