She described her credentials: a master’s degree, an annual income of 150,000 yuan, and ownership of property and savings. Her requirements for a potential partner were straightforward: similar age, a height of at least 170 cm, a weight of no more than 150 pounds, a bachelor’s degree or higher, and an annual income of around 150,000 yuan. While she didn't demand a house or car from her prospective partner, she emphasized that the bride price of 800,000 yuan was negotiable.
The boldness of her demands quickly became the center of attention. Curious bystanders, skeptics, and even critics gathered around. One man jokingly offered her a bride price of just 10 yuan, prompting laughter from the crowd. The woman retorted firmly, saying she would rather be "sealed in cement" than marry him.
Other comments were more biting. Some questioned her ability to have children at her age, suggesting her demand for a high bride price was unreasonable. “At 38, can you even have children? 800,000 yuan is simply not worth it,” one onlooker quipped.
In response to the criticism, the woman defended her stance during an interview. She explained that the bride price was meant to contribute to a marriage fund. "I already have a house, a car, and savings. My partner doesn’t need to buy a house or a car after we marry. The 800,000 yuan, combined with an additional 800,000 from my side, would create a 1,600,000-yuan fund for future family planning and childbirth expenses," she explained.
She also emphasized her flexibility, saying she was open to long-distance relationships and even younger partners, provided she found them suitable.
The incident, captured on video, quickly went viral on social media, igniting a storm of opinions. Many netizens criticized the woman’s approach, likening it to a transactional arrangement devoid of genuine emotions.

Others were more critical of her age and expectations. “At 38, it’s no surprise she’s being mocked. Her demands are unrealistic, and it’s only natural that people ridicule her,” another comment read.
However, not all feedback was negative. Some netizens expressed sympathy for her plight and frustration with modern marriage dynamics.
