The wife of a well-known Chinese actor, Du Chun, recently found herself in the eye of a social media storm. Wang Can, a public figure in her own right, shared a lengthy post on her social media platform, recounting her frustrations over a housekeeper who ate imported fruit without asking for permission.
According to Wang’s post, she had received six imported fruits from a friend, of which she only managed to eat one. A few days later, she discovered the remaining fruits were gone. When she inquired, the housekeeper admitted to eating them. Wang expressed her dismay, noting that she herself had been reluctant to indulge in the costly treat.
Wang elaborated that this wasn’t an isolated incident, citing previous instances where the housekeeper helped herself to her favorite snacks, such as beef jerky and dried squid, without permission. “If she wanted to eat, she could’ve just told me,” Wang wrote. “Boundaries and mutual respect are important.”
She emphasized that while it’s important to create a comfortable working environment for live-in help, they should still maintain a sense of propriety.
Wang’s post quickly went viral, triggering heated discussions on social media. Opinions among netizens were sharply divided.
Some criticized Wang for being overly petty. “If you’re counting fruits, maybe don’t hire a housekeeper,” one user commented sarcastically. Wang responded directly: “Meals are provided, three times a day. But if she wants to eat something specific, she should let me know first.”
Others accused her of being the "stingiest celebrity wife" they had ever encountered. Wang clapped back, saying, “So you’re okay with someone eating everything in your home without asking? If that’s the case, send her to your place!”
On the other hand, many supported Wang’s stance, agreeing that boundaries should be respected. “She’s making a valid point. It’s not about being stingy, but about maintaining a basic sense of respect,” one user wrote.
As the wife of a celebrity, Wang is no stranger to public attention. She married actor Du Chun in 2021, and the couple welcomed their daughter, affectionately nicknamed "Little Dumpling," later that year. However, the pressures of maintaining a public image while managing a private household seem to have taken their toll.
