随着城市向上和向外扩张，缺乏自然的城市化模式导致了环境和社会问题。城市成为热岛，野生动物被推到边缘(有时濒临灭绝)，自然栖息地的丧失导致城市生物多样性的下降。人与自然之间的脱节越来越大，造成了健康影响、“自然缺失症”、更多的孤独和孤立、获得绿色和美丽的机会更加不平等。

SUMMARY
Over the last two centuries many urban areas have evolved under the heavy influence of industrial and economic priorities, leading to a significant division between human constructions and natural environments. This historical context sets the stage for our challenge: to bridge this divide through innovative urban design that respects, reflects and enhances the dynamic relationships of all living forms - human, plant, and animal; to imagine a city that cares, heals, and grows with all living forms by asking “what are the qualities of life and how can we harness them as shaping forces for cities?”
As cities expanded upward and outward, the nature-devoid model of urbanization led to environmental and social issues. Cities become heat islands, wildlife is pushed to the fringes (sometimes to the brink of extinction), and the loss of natural habitats leads to a drop in urban biodiversity. The disconnect between people and nature grows wider, contributing to health impacts, “nature deficit disorder”, more loneliness and isolation, more inequality of access to green and beauty.
In this competition, we challenge participants to reimagine urban spaces through the lens of life (including human, plant and animal).Proposals should develop an approach to shape cities as systems supporting life and enhancing its relational qualities,rather than as productive and efficient ‘machines’.
Participants are invited to submit designs that showcase the transformation of urban spaces into thriving ecosystems that respect and reflect the complex interdependencies of life. The designs should explore radical approaches towards the rethinking and designing of urban spaces.
This competition is a call to break the ideological and physical barriers between the built and the natural environments. It's about imagining a city that cares, heals, and grows with all its life/forms -human and other-than-human.

BRIEF IN SHORT
This competition questions the old separation between life and urban context. We are calling for ideas that integrate life deeply and meaningfully into urban settings, transforming cities into spaces that promote health, diversity, and connection between all forms of life.
Projects should imagine a phased approach in 3 urban scenarios to reach radical relational designs where“form follows life”.Each design scenario should be represented on one A3 Presentation Board .
/ STEP 1: Pick a 1 x1 km site in any city around the
world as the location for your project;
/ STEP 2: Visualize your design concept in a future
scenario for the year 2080;
/ STEP 3: Define two intermediate scenarios for the
years 2030 (short-term) and 2050 (mid-term);
/ STEP 4: List 5 keywords that best encapsulate the
concept of your project;
We highly recommend you to not add text to the image and board. The projects should be explanatory enough through the graphic material, without the usage of flowing text.
Non Architecture and all the supporting organizations collaborated in identifying a range of
40 design issues related to the research theme of the competition. Within our longlist, we highlighted a few that could be relevant to this competition.
We ask participants to select a maximum of 5 keywords to explain their design. Keywords can be picked from our list or they can be proposed by the design team.

ELIGIBILITY:
THE REGISTRATION FOR THE COMPETITION IS FREE.
The registration opens on 01 May 2024, and closes
on 31 August 2024.
For a project to be accepted, the team must be properly registered to the competition. All registrations will be done through the Non Architecture website (non-a.com).
Only the teams that are properly registered will be allowed to submit their proposal. The registration is per team, regardless of how many members are on the team. If a team wants to submit more than one proposal to the competition, they will have to register each proposal separately.
Non Architecture Competitions are open to all human beings, from every age and cultural background, working in groups or individually.
Teams can be formed by a maximum number of 4 people. Personal information of all the team members can be uploaded during the submission procedure of the final drawing.

SUBMISSION
Submissions must be done through the Non Architecture website (nonarchitecture.eu), before the submission period ends, the deadline is indicated in the calendar.
The submission surface opens 2 weeks before the submission deadline. It is going to be placed on the Non Architecture website, on the corresponding competition page.
Simply follow the submission instructions and upload the project folder directly on the website.By filling the form, your submission is finalized.
You are going to receive one confirmation email when you finalize your submission on the website.

Non Architecture Competitions will award only one winner, selected by the jury collectively, and 7 honourable mentions.
WINNER (2 PRIZE)
/ 1500 euros* for each winning team to further develop their project.
/ Winners will also be invited to present their work at a European exhibition and conference related to the "Age of Humans and Nature" project - potential cities include Berlin or Lisbon (some travel costs for the conference will be covered).
