致敬国际教育日，展现枫叶英语特色。为鼓励学生自信表达，地道讲英语，营造良好英语学习环境，促进学生英语综合运用能力的全面提升。2024年11月1日13:00-15:30，国际教育日暨第六届枫叶英语演讲比赛海枫国际高中初赛圆满结束。
In order to pay tribute to International Education Day, showcase Maple Leaf English speciality,in order to improve students' ability of English Language proficiency comprehensively,create an English-speaking environment,improve Maple Leaf students' comprehensive English application ability.Preliminary contest at MLIHS-Hainan of 6th Maple Leaf Speech Contest was held successfully at 13:00-15:30 on November 1st, 2024.
比赛根据学段分为强化年级与世界课程两个组别，强化年级9名，世界课程15名，共计24名选手大方登台，自信发声。7名国际高中中外教师组成评审团队，根据选手表现提问并打分。
24 contestants from ESL group and WS group gave speech confidently. 7 judges are teachers from International High School to score and give questions.
强化年级组赛制为3分钟既定话题演讲+评审提问。本次演讲主题结合奥运时事，既定主题为--“奥运精神教会我们什么？What Olympic Spirits Taught Me”，旨在引导学生学习奥林匹克精神中的公平竞争和团结友爱，鼓励学生在日常生活中秉持公正、合作的态度，共同构建和谐社会。既定话题演讲考验选手对讲稿内容的撰写能力以及英语演讲的表现力，选手们初登大赛舞台，他们克服紧张情绪，稳定发挥，铿锵有力的词句彰显国际高中学生风采。
Contestants from ESL group gave set topic speech in 3 minuets and answer questions from judges. Speech theme is combined with Olympic events which is “What Olympic Spirits Taught Me”. It aims to guide students to learn about fair competition and unity in the Olympic spirit, encourage students to uphold a fair and cooperative attitude in their daily lives, and jointly build a harmonious society. The set topic speech tests the contestants' writing ability of the speech content and the performance of English speech.They overcame their nervousness and performed steadily.
世界课程组赛制为4分钟即兴话题演讲+评审提问。演讲主旨在于引导学生发现奥林匹克精神与中国传统文化中的“自强不息”、“厚德载物”等价值观相契合。选手在赛前半小时抽签决定演讲话题与演讲顺序，即兴话题演讲考验选手的知识储备量以及临场发挥能力，世界课程组选手面对大赛游刃有余，举手投足之间诠释了枫叶英语人笃行不怠、厚德载物的卓越追求！
Contestants from WS group gave set topic speech in 4 minuets and answer questions from judges.The main purpose of the topic is to guide students to find that the Olympic spirit is consistent with the values of "self-improvement" and "social commitment" in Chinese traditional culture. The players draw lots half an hour before the game to decide the topic and the order of the speech. With their vigorous and sonorous words and phrases, they showcased the style of International High School students. The spirit of forging ahead and striving hard, interpreting the outstanding pursuit of the Maple Leaf English people of perseverance and magnanimity!
选手展示后，评委代表Sabeti先生对选手们精彩的表现提出赞扬，他看到了强化年级选手从不敢在课堂发言到自信站上大赛舞台的蜕变，他感受到了世界课程选手朝气蓬勃，落落大方的枫叶风采。另外，他也给予选手们切实的改进意见，他鼓励选手多与观众进行眼神接触，通过向观众提问来吸引观众注意力。在演讲时，他希望选手们使用更多的肢体动作，有时适当使用幽默的语句可以丰富演讲内容，也有利于调节现场气氛，Sabeti先生中肯实用的分享，让选手们受益良多。
After presentation of contestants, the representative of judges Mr. Sabeti gave feedback to them. He gave praise about great performance contestants showcased. He pointed out that controlling speech length, speaking loudly and fluently is the key to get high marks. He encouraged contestants to give more eye contact with audience and create questions for them to catch their attention. In addition, using body language and humorous phrases appropriately are good options to adjust the atmosphere during the contest.
