A Chinese female influencer hailed a rideshare car and, using an exaggerated accent, told the driver she was a foreigner who had just arrived in China the day before and loved the country. The driver believed her and engaged in casual small talk with her.
Midway through the ride, the influencer suddenly declared that she no longer loved China because the driver had intentionally taken a longer route. Switching back to her normal tone, she confronted the driver on the spot:
"I'm so annoyed! I pretended to be Korean, and you took a longer route! Do you deliberately go the long way with foreigners? Are you trying to scam them? You thought I was stupid, didn't you? Well, I'm live streaming right now, and everyone knows you took a detour!"
Caught off guard, the driver quickly explained that he had accidentally taken the wrong turn earlier and hadn’t intentionally gone the long way. He also pointed out that the ride was a fixed price order, so even if he took a longer route, he wouldn’t earn any extra money.
The driver repeatedly reassured her that there would be no additional charges, but the influencer sternly criticized him for wasting her time.
Some netizens noted that many influencers now pretend to be Korean while taking taxis, misleading drivers to create comedic videos or enhance the entertainment value of their livestreams. These influencers often use bizarre accents and say random things after getting into the car.
