Shanghai Shentong Metro Group has announced that the Airport Link Line of the Shanghai Suburban Railway will officially open to the public on Friday. The 68.6-kilometer railway connects Hongqiao International Airport and Pudong International Airport, offering a travel time of approximately 40 minutes.
The section ready for operation spans 59 kilometers between Hongqiao Airport Terminal 2 Station and Pudong Airport Terminals 1&2 Station, including seven stations—five underground and two on-ground. Trains will operate at 15-minute intervals, with services running from 6 a.m. to 10:39 p.m. during the initial phase. The first and last trains will depart from both terminal stations at 6 a.m. and 10 p.m., respectively.
At present, the line facilitates in-fare zone transfers only with Metro Line 9 at Zhongchun Road Station, where the transfer passage is located near Exit 4 and takes around five minutes. For visitors heading to Disneyland Resort, Metro Line 11 is recommended. Passengers using the Airport Link Line should note that the Shanghai International Resort Station is about 2.5 kilometers from Disneyland. Travelers can exit at Shanghai International Resort Station and transfer to Pudong Bus Line 50 or Line 70 to reach their destination.
The line is designed with convenience and accessibility in mind. All stations feature toilets, blind pathways, and barrier-free facilities to accommodate passengers with special needs. Baby-care rooms are available at Hongqiao Airport Terminal 2 Station, Shanghai International Resort Station, and Pudong Airport Terminals 1&2 Station.
The opening of the Airport Link Line expands the Shanghai Metro network to 896 kilometers, comprising 21 lines and 517 stations. Ticket prices range from 4 yuan (55 US cents) to 26 yuan, depending on the travel distance.
