If you lose your passport, immediately go to the local police station where the loss occurred to report it. Obtain a "Report Receipt" showing your name. If you're unsure where the passport was lost, you can report the loss at the police station in your area of residence.

After reporting the loss at the police station, visit the Exit and Entry Administration Bureau of the Public Security Bureau to declare the loss of your passport. Follow the staff's guidance to obtain a "Certificate of Loss of a Foreigner’s Passport."
You will typically need to provide the following documents:
The proof of loss issued by the police station, such as the "Report Receipt."
Valid identification, such as a photocopy of the lost passport, student ID, or national ID from your home country.
The "Certificate of Loss of a Foreigner’s Passport" is valid for 30 days. Within this period, apply for a new passport and visa documents. Until you receive your new passport, the Certificate of Loss can serve as your temporary legal ID and be used at airports, train stations, and similar venues.

Take the Certificate of Loss of a Foreigner’s Passport to your country’s embassy or consulate in China to apply for a new passport.
4.
After receiving your new passport, visit the Exit and Entry Administration Bureau again to apply for the appropriate type of visa or residence permit.
You will usually need the following documents:
The original new passport.
The Certificate of Loss of a Foreigner’s Passport.
If you are working in China, you should report the change of passport number in their Foreigners Employment Permit to the Science and Technology Bureau / Science and Technology Committee.
