Chinese actress Zhao Lusi, popularly known as Rosy Zhao, has broken her silence on allegations of verbal and physical abuse by her talent agency. The revelations, coupled with her struggle with depression, have sparked widespread concern and support from her fans.

Born in 1998 in Chengdu, Sichuan province, Zhao rose to fame in 2020 with her performance in The Romance of Tiger and Rose, earning her the title of "Top Follower Born After 1995." Today, she boasts nearly 30 million followers on Chinese social media platforms.

In late December, Zhao was reportedly hospitalized after falling ill, which led to speculation about her health. Photos showing her looking frail in a wheelchair and struggling to walk fueled rumors of aphasia, a disorder affecting language comprehension and usage.

On December 31, a close friend of Zhao revealed shocking details about her alleged mistreatment by her agency. According to the friend, Zhao had been reprimanded for hours in a restroom by her boss in 2019 after failing auditions. The boss allegedly berated her for not being talented enough and even criticized her weight. The abuse reportedly escalated to physical violence, leaving Zhao terrified.

Despite an apology from the boss, who attributed the incident to being drunk, Zhao remained bound by her contract and unable to retaliate. Her boss later complained to her mother about her “disobedience.”

On January 1, Zhao addressed the allegations on social media, confirming the abuse and opening up about her long battle with depression. She recounted instances from her childhood, including being labeled as "useless" and enduring physical punishment from a teacher. “I thought I deserved it because I struggled academically,” she admitted.

As an adult, Zhao said she internalized the blame for her failures, leading her to remain silent about the abuse. “I kept quiet and just wanted to escape,” she wrote, adding that she never intended to use her illness as a way to garner attention.

Li Wei, the former CEO of Zhao’s agency, Tianjin Galaxy Cool Entertainment Culture Media Co. Ltd, denied the allegations. He released a statement insisting their relationship had always been supportive and shared screenshots of past interactions to back his claims.

The revelations have triggered an outpouring of support on social media. Fans expressed their concern and admiration for Zhao’s courage. One commenter wrote, “Get well soon, Rosy. Be yourself, and don’t let anyone bring you down.” Another added, “She’s hardworking, bright, and lovely. We’re rooting for her recovery.”
