Step 1 Pre-reading

4. Try to guess: “What animal friend do I have?”
It is green.It has a shell on its back.It walks very slowly.It can’t swim well.
What is it?
Tortoise
5. Let’s know
Know the differences between tortoise and turtle.
And today we will read a story about tortoise, “Tortoise and his friends”.
Step 2 While-reading
1. Cover reading
Who are tortoise’s friends?
Monkey,Tiger,Elephant,Giraffe.
2. Look and guess (P2-3)
Where do they live?
What do they want to do?
3. Listen and check
They live by the river. They want to cross the river.
4. Think and guess(P4-5)
Can they all cross the river?
5. Look and find
What’s the problem?Let’s look at the pictures and find out.
Tortoise can’t cross the river.
6. Read and match
T: What about his friends?How can they cross the river? Read P4-5 carefully and underline the key words.
Monkey has... So he can jump. Tiger has.... So he can jump.
Elephant has... So she can wade. Giraffe has... So he can wade.
7. Look and say
Tortoise has... He can’t jump or wade.
T:Oh, what a pity! Tortoise can’t cross the river, how does he feel?
S:He is sad.
8. Read and act
If you were his friend, what would you do? Would you give him a hand?
What do Elephant, Giraffe, Monkey and Tiger say to the tortoise? Read P6-10 and then make a dialogue and act it out.
9. Think and learn
The tortoise is scared. What’s the meaning of scared?
A.害怕的 B. 担忧的
Reading Tip: We can guess the meaning from the pictures and the context.

A friend in need is a friend indeed.
If we meet problems, we should try to solve them.

本课是译林版英语五上Unit3 Our animal friends课内外融合阅读课,融合绘本为丽声北极星分级绘本《Tortoise and his friends》。旨在通过绘本教学,激发学生阅读兴趣,丰富学生阅读体验,培养学生阅读习惯。在学生体会朋友之间患难见真情的主题意义之余,通过绘本中动物们遇到问题、解决问题的过程,提高学生解决真实问题的意识和能力。
Pre-reading
首先,通过视频引出主题animals,然后复习课内所学,利用气泡图帮助学生复述课文,再次通过气泡图,帮助学生描述自己的动物朋友。最后,通过猜一猜我的动物朋友,引出绘本Tortoise and his friends。
While-reading
然后,根据故事的发展过程分成三个部分:the setting,the problem,the solution。故事背景为动物们住在河边,有一天他们想要过河。但是他们遇到了陆龟过不了河的问题。解决方法一:动物朋友们背着他过河,但是陆龟害怕。接着朋友们想出了第二个解决方法--搭桥。在教学过程中,通过流程图展示了故事的发展过程,通过看、听、说、演等方式,帮助学生理解故事内容,体会朋友之间患难见真情的主题意义。
Post-reading
最后,借助板书流程图对故事进行整体回顾,让学生思考这个绘本带给他们的深层涵义,朋友之间患难见真情,同时通过流程图的进一步补充,鼓励学生续编故事,创设更多的可能性。
本节课中,通过与学生的有效互动,深切感受到他们的语言表达能力,也感受到图示教学的魅力,让学生逐步从被牵引阅读模式转变到半自主阅读模式。本节课的图示教学有助于学生更清晰地理解文章思路, 整体性地把握和复述文章内容, 发展学生的语言运用能力, 提高学生的英语阅读水平。在下一阶段的教学中,我也想尝试以the setting,the problem,the solution三个部分,以思维导图为支架,开展仿写活动,让学生学会更清晰、更有逻辑、更完善的文本表达,从而真正提升他们的思维品质。
