Two men in China, Liu Yi and Zhang Shuo, have gained fame as “divorce partners” after moving in together following their separations from their wives. Despite a 12-year age difference, the pair formed a close bond after appearing on the Chinese reality show See You Again, which followed couples navigating marital crises.

On the show, Zhang was criticized for his selfish behavior, neglecting his wife, Wang Shuishui, particularly when she was unwell. Meanwhile, Liu, the ex-husband of well-known writer Fu Shou'er, earned sympathy for his sacrifices. He had given up his career to move to Shanghai and support Fu and their son, only for Fu to later view him as unmotivated.

Though Liu and Zhang had little interaction during the show, they grew closer after their respective divorces. Zhang eventually moved in with Liu in Shanghai, and they began sharing their daily lives on social media, quickly becoming known as the “divorce duo” among netizens.

Their friendship has garnered significant attention, with many videos showing them dining together and exploring restaurants. Influenced by Zhang, Liu, who previously had no interest in cooking, has started learning how to prepare meals. Their bond sparked playful speculation online, with some netizens jokingly questioning whether their friendship was more than platonic.

Zhang’s public image has improved since teaming up with Liu, with Zhang humorously stating, “Liu Yi is the best cosmetic surgery I could have hoped for.” Despite their age gap, the two have avoided conflicts, sharing a laid-back attitude and a mutual love for singing, further solidifying their relationship.

In one popular video, Liu passionately sings Faye Wong’s “I’m Willing” while Zhang plays the guitar, amassing 34,000 likes on Douyin. On September 8, they even invited Liu’s ex-wife Fu to join a live stream, attracting over 920,000 viewers. Fu’s blunt comments about Liu’s outfit sparked humor among viewers, with some joking that they looked like a “family of three.”

Liu and Zhang’s unique friendship has become a hot topic, with one netizen commenting, “It’s amazing how fate brought them together!” Others noted how Zhang, once criticized as a bad husband, has now flourished as a better person and friend.
