Introduction of Indigo CatTranslationClub in China
In early 2020, Dr. QiaoQIAO bought me the book “BSAVA Manual ofFeline Practice A Foundation Manual” for our Book and Journal Club ofFeline Medicine in China as a learning material. I couldn’t put it down themoment I opened the book. The more I read, the more I want to share with ourChinese veterinarians the valuable and practical knowledge in it. But how? Theplan of translating the book came into my mind and I immediately started thetranslation while reading. A period of time later, more European and Americanveterinary guidelines and literatures were translated likewise one afteranother. In the middle of July, when Dr. QIAO mentioned that he plans to compilea dictionary for translating veterinary terminology from English to Chineseprecisely, I came across the idea of gathering a group of friends with similaraspirations to form a feline medicine translation group. I phoned my youngfriend Ms. Wen ZHANG in October to see if she would like to join us in betweenbusy work hours. In November another veterinarian friend Ms. Yingying SUNjoined our team also at my instigation. In the meantime, Dr. QIAO brought inthe group several outstanding veterinarians working abroad and I asked everyprofessor I was familiar with to recommend more candidates. Before long a gangof young people were gathered together and the CAT TRANSLATORS team came intobeing. On Nov. 17th of 2020, the translation group was officiallyset up and named Indigo Cat Translation Club in China.
