A recent report has shed light on the challenges facing single women in Beijing when it comes to finding romantic partners. According to the Chinese text, the city's female singles share several common characteristics that seem to make them particularly difficult to match.

First and foremost, the women are generally on the older side, with most being in their late 80s to early 90s. This is significantly older than the typical marriage age in China. The text notes that this demographic, those born between 1988 and 1993, make up the majority of these single women.

In addition to their advanced age, the report indicates that these women also tend to have above-average educational backgrounds. Many hold master's degrees from China's top universities, with some even having overseas degrees. However, their high levels of education do not seem to translate to equally impressive career success. The women are described as working in decent, if not prestigious, roles such as state-owned enterprise employees, civil servants, doctors, and university professors.

Physically, the women are characterized as having average, or even below-average, appearances, with only a small minority possessing more attractive features. This seems to contrast with the high standards they reportedly have for potential partners.

The financial status of these single women is also a point of discussion. While their incomes are described as not being particularly high, they are apparently quite accustomed to being wined and dined by men, with the expectation that their dates will foot the bill, even for something as simple as a coffee.

Unsurprisingly, the women's perceived pickiness and unwillingness to compromise has drawn criticism from netizens. One user commented, "This is typical 'one woman has it, all women have it' thinking. The person posting this is probably having trouble getting past even the first hurdle themselves."

Another netizen, reflecting on Japan's economic bubble era, warned, "This situation completely matches the state of affairs in Japan 30 years ago, just before the big economic collapse. It took a generation to recover, and even then, the men didn't go back to their old doormat ways."

Some commenters were more sympathetic, with one user noting, "It's no wonder she's constantly being bombarded with blind date requests if she's a PhD student in Beijing. That place is the capital of female competition."
