On July 4th, the Philippine police announced a breakthrough in the kidnapping and murder case of Xia and Sun. The mastermind behind the killings, Li Na, a woman previously speculated online, has been apprehended.

Li Na had disappeared shortly after Xia and Sun were killed during a business meeting in the Philippines. She became a prime suspect in the investigation. Chinese authorities, in collaboration with local police, located Li Na hiding in an apartment while several months pregnant, with no sign of her husband.

It was revealed that Li Na's husband had already been captured by anti-kidnapping forces and faced extradition. Despite the absence of her husband's support, Li Na orchestrated the kidnapping and extortion, surprising many due to her seemingly delicate stature compared to the physically imposing victims.

During interrogation, Li Na confessed to her role in the crime. Originally from Fujian, she and her husband had been involved in criminal activities in the Philippines for years, employing hired thugs to expand their illegal activities. Unlike typical criminals, Li Na leveraged her intelligence and extensive knowledge, particularly in the medical field, where she posed as an experienced professional.

Earlier this year, Li Na met her victims, Sun and Xia, at a medical expo in Europe. Using her charm and expertise, she gained their trust and lured them to a meeting in the Philippines under false pretenses of business opportunities. Once there, the victims were abducted, subjected to brutal treatment, and ultimately poisoned. Li Na then demanded a ransom of 25 million yuan and received 3 million yuan, yet callously ordered the victims' deaths despite promises to release them.

Netizens expressed shock and anger at Li Na's cunning and brutality. On social media platforms, many condemned her actions as heinous and called for severe punishment. One user commented, "It's terrifying to think someone so intelligent could be so evil. She fooled everyone with her charm and knowledge, but behind it all, she was a dangerous criminal."

Another netizen shared a chilling experience, "I remember Li Na inviting me out for dinner once. If I had accepted, I might not be here today. It's chilling to think how close I came to becoming another victim."
